We all know about the SouthPark Ruth Chris, and we all know about Ruth Chris finding a space uptown. Now the Business Journal is reporting that Ruth Chris is looking for a third Charlotte location. I know Ballantyne has been a rumor for a while but something tells me this one may go to the lake instead. I guess we'll wait and see.

I think you're right, it's a toss up between Ballantyne and the Lake. Isn't PF Changs thinking about coming to Ballantyne Village too....

I vote for the lake. South Charlotte and Ballantyne are so close together. LN would draw from the north side including Concord Iredell and even Gastonia. Believe it or not there are people with money outside of South and Southeast Charlotte.

How Ruth's Chris Steak House got its unusual name:

In 1965, Ruth Fertel was a single mother working as a lab technician for Tulane Medical School.

One day, while scanning newspaper classified ads, she saw a steak house for sale. She mortgaged her house for $22,000 and bought the restaurant, keeping its name -- Chris Steak House.

Not long afterward, a fire forced her to move to another location, and she amended the name to "Ruth's Chris Steak House." She passed away in 2002.

Says Chief Operating Officer Geoffrey Stiles: "The story in New Orleans is that it has become a type of sobriety test, if you can say that three times quickly."

I was at ruths chris tonight for my bday, and I asked what the plans were for a 2nd in charlotte. They said that it will be on Tryon in a building that is under construction right now! What does that mean?

It means Tryon is a very long road. LOL. Uptown, i guess.

I think it's going in 230 S. Tryon which is under construction/renovation right now and being turned into condos. Correct me if i'm wrong but this is what I believe i've heard. http://www.230southtryon.com

The only buildings under construction right now on Tryon are Wach Main, Wachovia's First Street project, and 230 S Tryon. I think people have speculated it would go to 230 S Tryon before, and it seems most likely. Wachovia Main will have a new flagship bank branch, and not likely have room for Ruth's Chris. First Street's opening is too far away to be leased.
