What is the height of the current capital towers? 

I saw on the way to work they were drilling (or had drilling equipment) on that site this week.

Just looked it up on Emporis.   Definitely seems like it'll be larger in SF and possibly in height.  Lot size and shape at 5954 Carnegie Dr appear to be larger than the first two Capitol Towers.

^^ So basically it could be 14 floors and about the same height as the big one on Fairview

Really hope this is SouthParks new tallest, Hopefully with different architecture.

Drive bys in the Southpark area of most of the new construction projects but forgot about the new apartments on Barclay Downs.  Today. 

Photo of the Sharon Church redevelopment site.    Site of new AC by Marriott hotel next to existing Marriott hotel. (Rexford Rd)   New office building for a former NFL owner. 

One of the new Capitol Towers now just 2 but 3rd one coming soon.  I can also confirm soil testing on the site probably under contract under due diligence period.   Piedmont Row fountain.  Last 4 photos. Across Fairview behind the SouthPark Towers rises the new Liberty senior apartment complex.   Crane up here.     This is the most construction I have ever seen in the SouthPark area at one time!

Southpark doesn't get much love on UP because of the standard architectural style and suburban feel, but things are changing fast.

Don't know yet.  Given the first 2 are so alike and balanced not sure they would do the same for the 3rd tower.   I can tell you this I think it will be very much like the other projects in southpark  that LH has done Piedmont Row,  the buildings near Morrison library etc.  More classical architecture they developed the Rotunda too.

As someone not directly involved in any urban planning / architecture / construction, I thought this was a cool close up of the concrete being poured and smoothed at the new AC Hotel.

While Buckhead is fancier in terms of stores and hotel brands, I think that Southpark is much nicer.   It’s greener, and I prefer the scale of the buildings.  It’s becoming better and better.

Buckhead is walkable. SouthPark.....

Maybe that will change.  Anyway, I don’t think that Peachtree Road is a very pleasant place to walk.

Yeah, Buckhead is considerably less walkable IMO.  Roads including grade separated interchanges of surface roads make it extremely difficult to walk.

I prefer Buckhead over Southpark. Lenox Square is a really nice mall and has some retailers we hope of getting. However, Southpark will expand and grow, And if they really do make Southpark more walkable that's a bonus.

The Shops at Buckhead is the new place to shop there. If only something like that would come to anywhere in Charlotte.

Wow this is the proposed Capitol Tower 3 is totally different than the domed twin towers of 1 and 2.  Lincoln Harris is going on modern on us all of a sudden like the new Legacy 2 uptown and now this.   Wonder if this building has a tenant lined up like it is rumored for the Legacy 2???  someone call Johno.  

Quick access page 71 of the 92 page PDF file.   Some good historical photos of the mall area too from 1970 when the mall was brand new.    This is from the community manager report.  We should assign a UPer to each public community meeting to spy I mean collect information.  I will buy some coffee and 3  Krispy Kreme doughnuts for the first volunteer.

This has a destinctive "tech" vibe to it, which suggests there is a tenant in mind.  Odd, as this is roughly the same size as Legacy Union 2, but that seems far enough along, that I wouldn't think they're different options for the same tenant.

Love this design. Hope it ends up looking something like this. I generally despise the faux column / arch / whateverthehell that type of design is that’s all over South Park.

I think people got over excited on the height...I think they are just getting it zoned for the maximum height that is allowed (180ft)

this new Capitol Tower 3 looks like it could be for Lendingtree.   Their Pineville plans seem to fizzled and originally they were going to expand on Rexford Rd in Southpark until they determined they needed more space.  I wonder if this is the new home of Lendingtree.

I've heard of at least 5 proposals for Lending Tree from developers. EVERYBODY is giving them the time of day.
