SouthPark neighborhood Projects

While we're talking about this area, I noticed this rezoning for some apartments at the corner of Abbey and Hedgemore. http://ww.charmeck.org/Planning/Rezoning/2014/028-032/2014-028%20site%20plan.pdf

None of these apartment projects in the area have been inspiring, but with so much denser residential going in the outskirts, I have high hopes to see something more interesting happen around Montford and PRSC soon.

OK, getting more than a little ridiculous with that name.  At no point does Park Road even touch Myers Park.

I'm guessing its their proximity to Selwyn.

So 15 Stories on what seems to be Mall property?   I like the idea of them using up the extra space on the mall property.

Also, what is currently the tallest building in SouthPark?

The Fairview towers on 6000 and 6100 Fair new road. I'm looking forward to the updates on Southpark. I've always felt that this area is truly Charlottes second market.

Yes but 6100 and 6000 fairview are ALL OFFICE. Which has a much much higher floor height than parking.

Because of it will probably be about 20-30 feet shorter.

If this project is not the tallest it will definitely still be up there. It looks Southpark is becoming Bankheadish. Not quite there but there are several projects that are very much spread out rather than clustered or linear.

Love it. Its nice to see more retail in the mix for this area, though its going to be an interesting problem to encourage pedestrian crossing of Park.

It would be nice if we could get rid of just one of the 3 gas stations at that intersection.

^ Yes....its funny that this are is getting a number of small urban projects, but faces almost insurmountable non-urban obstacles, namely the intersection of Park/Woodlawn.

I'd like to see this design recycled elsewhere in the city.  I'm imagining it for the new project at Commonwealth/St Julien.

The Olde Towne Apartments behind Sharon Corners Shopping Center are planned to be demolished to make room for a 300-room Dual Brand hotel.  If the rezoning is approved, they hope to start construction in early 2015 with completion in early 2016.

I'm assuming that project is different than this one.
