The old redevelopment plan to include a mixed use village behind Fairview Towers is back. This time around, "Liberty Village" is going to focus on retirement facilities, residential development, medical offices and retail.

That's actually in for a site plan amendment for some an already approved development. It's for fairly minor changes:

Scibelli

Charlotte restaurateur Frank Scibelli will open a new restaurant called Yafo Kitchen in SouthPark’s Morrison Place in early 2016.

Taking its inspiration from fast-casual Middle Eastern street food, the new restaurant will feature Mediterranean fare like shawarma-spiced rotisserie chicken, hummus made from organic chickpeas and baba ganoush, according to a statement Wednesday.

Not sure if this should go here but there is a project underway on the triangular lot where Park South forks off from Park Road. A majority of the trees are gone and site prep is underway. Looks to be a decent size so I'm imagining multifamily. Anyone heard anything about this one?

Is this where the road forks off to Fairview from Park Road?

It was announced as townhouses but I forget the developer. Seems like an awfully small plot at a busy intersection...

Speaking of SouthPark townhouses, the Simonini project @ Closeburn seems like it's moving along-demolition looks nearly complete.

Bad News

I heard from a one of my little birds (I love Game of Thrones, there I said it) that A Southern Season is pulling out of its expansion into the Charlotte and Atlanta markets. This is probably good, speaking that Publix, A Southern Season, Earth Fare and the Taj Ma Teeter would have all been sharing a 1 block radius.

Good News

This looks pretty great, uses sound awesome, I just wonder if it'll get approved for that much density on Park South.

Ha!!  So the 400 ( or so) apartment dwellers will be trying to get out while several more hundred will be trying to drive into this complex, all from Park South Drive? during morning rush hour?  This is destined to be a cluster f**k of epic proportions.
