I know there's been plans to redevelop the Colony Apartments but wasn't sure if anyone has seen these renderings. Looks interesting, I wonder what kind of retail will go here:

SouthPark (the mall) needs all of the retail it can get. Can’t seem to keep a tenant for very long these days.

New $800K townhomes in Southpark next to the dual brand Hilton Garden Inn on Sharon Rd.   and you can walk to Homegoods, Starbucks and the only 2 level McDonalds in Charlotte.   https://www.bizjournals.com/charlotte/news/2018/11/12/luxury-townhouse-project-underway-in-southpark.html?ana=e_ae_set1&s=article_du&ed=2018-11-12&u=oAaDx%2B74FoP4qOJ%2By4AU6dhJPpc&t=1542054520&j=84979451

They have been re-signing 1 year leases for the Colony Apt. so I wouldn't expect it anytime soon unfortunately.

A 2 story Starbucks and a 2 story McDonald's? Wow, Southpark really is the definition of elegance and luxury

I despise snarky UP condescension.  Southpark is a great area to live based on many measures, but even an apologist and defender of all that is good and just must admit that if you don't have the McRib, you're falling behind.

Get it together SouthPark.

Here is the link to the new luxury townhomes by SouthPark starting in $860s.  Walk to 2 story Starbucks, 2 story Whole Foods and the 2 story McDonalds (no McRib it seems LOL)  https://www.saussyburbank.com/communities/laurelwood-towns/

This is luxury south Charlotte living and you can walk to Homegoods to furnish the whole place.

No thanks. I will keep my $950 rent at Solis right across the street. HOA included and plenty of garage parking :)

That place is going to stay standing until it literally falls over...and based on the condition when I moved out a year ago...won't take too long.  They don't put a dime into the property.  Multiple buildings have shingles blown off.  Parking lot looks like a Baghdad after a bombing run.  They don't over-seed the grass areas, just mud and four blades of bermuda grass.  No landscaping.  Inside looks just as old and worn.  Yet the place has like a million residents  because of location, price and large 2BR's.  They can print money for another couple years.

It is but it gets old (and depressing) after a while.  I loved being able to walk everywhere, including work, but when it it was nice out, I didn't want to hang outside because of the state of the buildings and common areas.  When it wasn't nice, I didn't want to hang out inside.  Your view (unless you have a Sharon/ColonyRoad facing unit) is just another worn out brick building and dirt patch.
