If I had a choice I’d change the Lifetime fitness to a Bloomingdales or Saks Fifth Avenue. This appears to be a higher end development so hopefully it won’t disappoint.

I wonder if that Life Time will have its own coworking division there called Life Time Work.  They are rolling that out in select cities and like 5 locations in Houston location.

I should’ve added that I know these stores won’t work out based off of today’s retail climate. If it were 15 years ago I’d say the Colony Redevelopment would undoubtedly be  a perfect candidate for them.

I don't think it's going to feel like that though. If you take the average size for both Publix and Lifetime you have around 150,000 to 160,000 square feet. I believe the article said 280,000 included in the project. So roughly 120,000 left after the two anchors. A sizeable amount but I'm not expecting a whole lot of depth added to Charlotte's shopping portfolio here.

Had to go to the Southpark area today and drove around a bit.  This is the biggest construction boom ever in Southpark right now.

1. the Colony demo work has begun and this is from Sharon Rd.  

Photos 2-13      Show Apex SouthPark this is a huge project with apartments over retail, the steel framing going up of the new church and the hotel on the back side.  From the front, side and back sides KJ has you covered.    to the contractor waving at me from the hotel on the backside sorry I was taking care of business point shoot repeat no time for niceties LOL

Photo 14 new mega Restoration Hardware store   Photo 15 and 16 the site of the new 15 story apartment tower and new Novant MOB on Fairview Rd.

So much going on in Southpark here is part 2 of my quick visit today. 

1. no action Yet on the Capitol Towers 3 site.  You know LH wont tell us they will just start building so keep an eye on this guys and gals.  2.3 Misc Southpark shots.

Photos 4 to end.  massive Barclay at Southpark with hotel and senior apartments.  Canopy by Hilton I think is the hotel.    Hotel is photo #4  looks like it will be opening soon.

Last photo is Novel Montford along Park Rd up from the southpark area.

^^ Its amazing how big the property is.  I lived in there for a few months but you don't fully grasp the full size of the property.   I think these two projects on Sharon are really going to start to transform Southpark.

I'd like to see the developer acquire the adjacent Walgreens and the shopping plaza on Morrison with Roosters and really transform this area.

From DeeDee?  LOL she will never sell and will let those properties fall down from disrepair.

Not to mention they got the city to agree  not to connect through the mid block 'street' next to Wendy's/Capishe to Colony Road as a condition of the rezoning.

Dang I know that passed (but remember them pushing for it). 

Certainly don't want all those people with easy access to there dumpy stores.   Hope the Publix drives the Walgreens out of business.  I am sure the Garden Secrets is a front for something.  Never seen a car there.  The sign has been falling over for years.  The awnings and lettering are so  faded you can barely read the names.   The "food court" thing has about  10 dedicated parking spots so it always looks empty compared to the number of seats.  Only thing keeping it going are the construction workers IMO.   /rant

Now that is the finest Wendys in the Carolinas on Morrison Blvd there.    As for the other businesses including the Garden Secrets I am sure Dee Dee Harris is going to redevelop this as quick as she did with the site  at Gleneagles and Park Road.    Maybe another wetland park.

This would give  a nice boost to making that stretch a little more pedestrian friendly.   That side of the road from Sharon to Barclays is trash 3' sidewalks right on Fairview.  Of course I doubt the section in front of the gas station ever gets re-done (and that is probably the worst of the whole stretch).

I think Southpark will be the place if any in the near future to get a mega condo skyscraper.

I just walked out of the Walgreens on Morrison and looked up as I approached my car and literally stopped in my tracks.  That tract looks Massive.  I had to pano to try to get it all in.

My friend took these with his drone of the rubble of the Colony.  My very first apartment was across the street and that building was bulldozed too.
