Carolina Place Mall

Well, people from the Rock Hill and Lancaster areas

I can see why, after my visit to the Rock Hill Galleria. The mall is in good physical shape, but it has a higher vacancy rate than I'd expect a mall with Belk and Wal-Mart as anchors (perhaps because people can't walk directly from the Wal-Mart anchor into the mall- ?!) and it just has a cheap feel to it- absolutely nothing high-end there.

Certainly won't end up on deadmalls.com anytime soon, but the people of Rock Hill deserve a better mall- or maybe they like that mall?!

I went to CP today and noticed the Macy's signs are already up. Right now they have them covered with a somewhat see through Hecht's banner. Also, the REI is looking nice.
The ironic part is Hecht's Carolina Place is the most "May Company" store in Charlotte in terms of design and merchandising. I wasn't expecting new signage so soon.

Things are getting close to done at Carolina Place. I got an invite to a pre-opening party at REI On August 3rd. I would imagine they plan on opening soon after.

Just found out that they will be opening on 8/4/06

Looks like my shop will have more competition sooner than I expected!

You cant really compare the two malls.......CP's most expensive store is Cache.....SP's most expensive is probably Louis Vuitton or Bob Ellis......and plus, who cares about prices.......Quality beats Quantity any day! Just as long as you dont pay $900 for a pair of shoes you'll be ok lol

Its about time!
Not so fast. I know you're thinking upscale retail, and I'm sure there will be a fair share of that, but I wouldn't hold out a lot of hope for a SouthPark-style experience. Probably something closer in character to Northlake (except with an actual market to support it :whistling:)

What kind of stores are you thinking? I know Forever 21 is opening... I could see Abercrombie Kids, Apple, bebe, Arden B, Aldo, dELiA*s, J. Crew, and maybe Banana Republic. All those stores seem to do pretty well here.

And I still think Northlake will thrive in the future, especially once 485 opens to I-77. With 100,000 people expected in the future, I think a lot of those retailers will hold out until then.
