Carolina Place Mall

Recommended Posts

There was an article in the Sunday Observer about how the mall wants its own exit off of 485 into the mall parking lot to help with traffic congestion. If I remember correctly it was in the neighborhood of $4 or $5 million.
I wonder if this is the same project I heard about a few years ago. At the time, if I remember correctly, there were some environmental issues connected to the exit site that made it unfeasable. I guess if it's the same thing I was thinking about, they've got those issues worked out.

What kind of stores are you thinking? I know Forever 21 is opening... I could see Abercrombie Kids, Apple, bebe, Arden B, Aldo, dELiA*s, J. Crew, and maybe Banana Republic. All those stores seem to do pretty well here.
abercrombie, Aldo, dElia*s, J. Crew, and Banana Republic, out of what you named. Apple, Arden B. and bebe may be harder sells.

They could just make the exit into the Garden Ridge parking lot or near there. No one is ever parked on that side anyway. Now the inner loop exit is another story. Theres a Bi-Lo and all that mess on the other side so I'm not sure where the westbound exit ramp could be built.

Looking at the aerial pictures on Google Maps, I can't see where they plan on putting an exit if they want to serve both directions. There just doesn't appear to be enough space.

They will probably do just as you said, only serve the outer. That would probably take down a big slice of traffic.

Well, it looks like Carolina Place Mall had some Gang Problems on Black Friday in their early morning opening.

http://www.wcnc.com/news/topstories/storie...d.207b07ea.html

But as 45,000 shoppers rushed to pack their bags with bargains, trouble started to surface as two different gangs with about 15 members each showed up in the food court. Police tell 6News, that at 2:30 a.m., four gang members allegedly attacked their rivals with chairs and maybe even brass knuckles.

anybody go to the new Barnes & Noble yet?

how is it????????

I went today, it is amazing! And the REI side of the mall looks very nice too...they are building some kind of pointed roof to make it look fancy......some stores have closed and others moved around...........Kirkland's closed, FYE also(looks like alot of music stores are closing nowadays), Waldenbooks closed(I guess they were ready for that when B&N announced they were coming), The Dean & Deluca that opened looks like its only a temporary store, there's barely anything in there! The Forever 21 looks really nice......they remodeled the Bath & Body Works but it looks tiny......I think they could do a little bit more shifting around......

The new Harper's restaurant at Carolina Place opened last weekend I believe. (and the one on Woodlawn has closed).

We ate dinner at the new Harper's last weekend - had a great meal, great experience overall! We ate outside on the patio which was nice, and I was impressed with the simplicity of the menu and reasonable prices. The interior decor is great, very dark with nice wood accents everywhere and cool lighting.

Definitely recommend it if you're in the CP area looking for a dinner option.
