Didn't I read recently of Tysons trying to become a more urban type place.. costing in the millions to convert from mostly suburban to urban type development.

<{POST_SNAPBACK}>

Yes, that is correct. I think there's some opposition to this though. I'll have to check it out and get some more details for u.

Here is a link to Restons proposed tallest buildings. Thanks Sugoiben for the info  :) .

<{POST_SNAPBACK}>

The curious thing about that article. They claim those buildings will tbe tallest in Reston, but I don't see how that's possible. They are only gonna be 16 stories. There are several existing buildings in the Reston Town Center that are already plenty taller than that, and a couple others in planning/construction phases that will be bigger too. There are existing 20, 19 and 17 story office towers, and two other 21 story buildings in the works(condos I think). Just don't see how these 16 story condos lay claim to Reston's tallest.

What type of ceiling height/foot per floor ratios are we talking. Are they being built on top of a garage and if so is that garage being included in the height?

I thought of that, but I mean we're talking 21 story offices versus 16 story condos, and they said the garage for it will all be underground. Unless every condo is getting cathedral ceilings, I don't see how it adds up. :P

Since this is an urban forum, i only posted developments in areas i consider to be urban or becoming increasingly urban. If you want to see sprawl, go to a real estate site and search for loudon county, the fastest growing county in the country, and you'll see what i'm talking about.

It's sad loudon had really nice countryside before all the development

yeaaaa I wasn't calling what you had posted sprawl. But that springfield interchange is so massive in large part to the sprawl problems up there. Whatever happened with Western Loudoun County? Wasn't a line in the sand supposed to be drawn for development? If I had to commute to D.C. every day from Loudoun .... I dunno what I would do! And those fools that commute from Fredericksburg! Crazy stuff.
