The hotel will be a Conrad Hilton.  There are currently only 6 others in the U.S.  The 14-floor, 237-room hotel will occupy the bottom half of a 34-story tower.

Rob Schaedle, founder and managing partner of Chartwell Hospitality, said some of the hotel's elements will meet 5-star standards. 

"Our rooms are big and beautifully designed," Schaedle said. "The bedrooms and bathrooms are luxury, top-of-the-line finishes and layouts. Part of the luxury experience is not only the design but also how the design sets you up for seamless luxury experiences."

The rooms are being designed by Champalimaud, which has also produced designs for Waldorf Astoria, Ritz Carlton, St. Regis and other high-end properties.

There will be a restaurant and bar in the lobby, and a more upscale restaurant and bar on the third-floor terrace next to the swimming pool.

I stayed at a Hilton Conrad hotel in Hong Kong once with my dad and it was of amazing quality. Nashville’s luxury hotels collection really is beginning to blossom: Westin, Omni, JW Marriott, The Hermitage, Thompson, The Joseph Luxury collection, W Hotel, Grand Hyatt, Four seasons and now Conrad. Wouldn’t even be surprised to see more come online due to all the projects with hotel components planned. There finally a positive comment from me about Nashville.

Btw...you have to expect that Broadwest is going to spur more skyscraper growth near the Broad / West End split.  Gotta believe something will happen eventually at that pie slice piece of land at the split where the large billboard is located.  And...this will also put even more pressure on Beaman to consider selling his car lots (though who knows if he'll even consider).  Also have to wonder if the Orbison estate will consider selling the Orbison building on Broadway.  There may be too much sentimental attachment...but that lot is going to eventually be a prime lot.

I'm much, much, much more eager to see those car lots go away and leave the Orbison building alone as long as possible.

As for that pie-shaped lot with The Nashville Sign (online at http://thenashvillesign.com/), the property seems like a waste to be sitting empty, but the sign people surely have a contract that keeps them there for a while, especially considering the upgrades several months ago. That doesn't leave a lot of options.

There are rumors out there that something may happen with that pie-shaped land...but nothing in concrete just yet.

The Post reported last year that the same family/development group acquired all of the pie-shaped land at the split so  I'm sure something will happen there before too long.

That sign is a rainmaker for its owners. Whatever they build there I'd find a way to keep the sign integrated.

I always thought it would be cool to put a thin 20-story on Broadway and 1st (where the flag poles are located) and have a massive digital screen there.   Build it in a way where the lower area can still be used for stages for concerts and whatever on Boradway.
