Boy, I hope so. I can't imagine a better place for a TJs. The Vandy crowd will keep it in business by itself, on purchases of beer, cheese, and frozen meals.

Man, we're gonna go from having zero grocery stores in the core ten years ago, to having an over-saturation of grocery stores in the core five years from now.

You have to have a lot more people living in or near the core to support the number of grocery stores that are proposed, however, stores like Trader Joes and Whole foods are destination stores that would do well regardless of location in the Metro.

I have my doubts about a grocery store doing well in Germantown even with the number of apartments. Those apartments have to be filled first and that will take a couple of years with that many units coming on line.

I was thinking the same, but I bet the situation is still quiet and uncertain. Buckingham purchased the site, so they'll do something with it I hope.

Im loving this in Midtown. Call me crazy, but I think this development would also be awesome in the Green Hills area with everything else going on that way. Just seems to fit that area imo.

The Kimpton Hotel is quite substantial looking SW along Division:

The exterior work is nearly complete on the Aertson Midtown residential area as well.  Too bad we will have to live with the ugly cinder block side that faces south above Mellow Mushroom restaurant.  It would appear the thinking is that, eventually, that will be gone and something taller will go up in it's place to obscure that wall.  In the meantime, I hope they at least paint it.  Might be a good candidate for a large "Nashville Walls" painting.  : )

Ha, agree.    Maybe continue the Mellow Mushroom psychedelic color scheme on up the wall.

From today's Nashville Post:

Officials with Midtown’s Kimpton Aertson Hotel are now taking reservations for rooms, groups, meetings and events.

The LEED-designed building, rising 17 stories and offering 180 rooms, is slated for May opening, according to a release.

Buckingham Cos. was the developer of the hotel building and an adjacent retail/apartment structure.

Looking NE from 21st Ave. South at intersection with Grand Ave. Staining of the south wall to a red brick hue makes it more palatable.  One would think that eventually the corner where The Mellow Mushroom is located will eventually be developed into something with more stature to help hide that.

I like how the 'shroom looks right next to the Aertson; the bright blue and yellow. And it's not a Wendy's. That corner really looks urban now.

Nice shots. I am so impressed by Aertson. I like the contrast between the residential and hotel sections and with Adelicia next to it, it makes a very nice urban 'wall'. Now if Vandy will only go ahead and start on their complex across Broadway, then that intersection will look really big city.

Agreed. At first I thought some of these photos were from Atlanta or another larger city. Well done to all involved.
