Tony Giratanna to build 305 units

Tony Girratanna will build a 305 unit condo tower behind the Schemerhorn between third and fourth avenue. The heigth will be around 10 stories. Building height is limited in the SOBRO area, as too keep the tallest buildings north of Broadway. A design sketch will be announced in the next 2 months. Stay tuned!

300 plus units in 10 stories sounds awfully, uh, different, considering that most towers have about 10 or so units per floor.

I think the only way that could be done would be a massive building occupying the entire block--more horizontal and less vertical.

I also think that would be a good idea and add more to the street.

Sounds good...but sleepy's right...

I think (design space wise) this will end up looking a lot like a college apartment building near UT called Knoxville Place (which is about 12 stories and God-only-knows how many units).

This is Knoxville Place...it takes up about 90% of the block. The space between there is a huge courtyard. This building is absolutely massive on the inside.

This just might give you an idea how a 200-300 unit midrise might look like.

Nashvol, that looks great to me! Tony owns the entire block anyway. Anything to fill up an empty parking lot!

I'm with you all. Anytime a surface parking lot is being filled its a good thing. I think the design will be interesting.
