John C. Tune is going to get further upgrades with the initial phase costing $43.5 million and to be complete by mid 2022. Included will be T-hangars, box hangars, plane ports, tie-down positions, grade work, pavement and construction of a maintenance building. The exact number of aircraft facilities has yet to be determined. The airport suffered over $93 million in damage during the March tornado.

I'm not too familiar with this airport. Is the u/c tower the first control tower for the airport or was there one that was damaged in the tornado?

This is the first control tower for the John C Tune airport

The rebuilding of buildings lost from the tornado has been slow due to various issues, including insurance being slow to pay, design, construction etc. The delays are hurting that airport
