I saw this event shared by a city council member, Kathleen Murphy. I don’t see it on the development map, though.

I think it must be for the property that is marked U T Health Sciences Campus on the development map.

WOW! Genesco bought the property in 2018 for $300,000 and sold it four years later for $20 million? That’s quite a healthy return on investment!

I had thought it must have been an old shoe factory that was still in their real estate inventory from back in the old General Shoe Corporation days (when they were one of the largest makers of shoes in the country). Obviously I was wrong.

More redevelopment about to show up in this neighborhood in the next couple of months.

The property at 123 Bosley Springs Road was an old Knights of Columbus complex that had a clubhouse, pool, and a football field where Parochial League teams would play.

I always thought it would be a good place for a commuter park and ride and/or if CSX ever relented a good place for a commuter rail station.

2500 West Heiman will be a 150 home and 30 unit townhome complex on 11.7 acres by M2 Development. They finished purchasing the 4 [parcels that make up the site for a cumulative $7.7 million. A first quarter 2023 groundbreaking is planned. No renderings yet, but there is a diagram (below).

White Bridge & Post will be a 9 story office structure and 8 story apartment building (167 units), with both offering ground level retail (46,200 sq. ft.) and shared internal garage at 21 White Bridge Rd. Martin Silverman and his company Porta Via (current owner of the strip center and bank building on the 4.3 acre site)  will be the developer. The apartment building will sit on the site of the current retail strip center and at the intersection of White Bridge and Post roads, while the office structure would replace the First Horizon building. ESa is the architect; Ragan Smith will handle civil engineering; KCI Technologies is doing traffic studies.  Guessing there will be community pushback, since it is just a block from where the Lion’s Head project got shot down for being “too tall” at 6 stories.

I would be shocked if this happens. I know the council leaders around this area very well and they will not be for this. Also, interesting that Chuy’s just remodeled the O’Charlies location and opened in the last couple weeks. No way they knew about that but that’s a potential lawsuit.

Exactly, this is too urban in design for council member Murphy to let happen. We all saw what happened with the former Steinmart location.
