I absolutely love what Vandy is doing with these buildings. It's so refreshing to see such architecture being kept alive. Not only will the exteriors maintain their physical beauty for years to come because of the use of durable materials that will only get better as they age, they aren't the product of some swiftly shifting fad that will just look weird in 30 years.

Yeah...when this building is completed, they could tell people that it was built in 1898 and many would believe it.

A Nashville-area real estate investor is pursuing a hotel on newly purchased property in Midtown, according to multiple sources familiar with the plans. No details on brand, size, etc. yet.

SouthRock Ventures paid $5.35 million for the .83 acre site at 209-217 22nd Ave. North in Midtown just west of St. Thomas Midtown Hospital complex . Currently a small one story (mostly unused) medical building and surface lot take up the property. The purchase price averages to about $145 per square foot.

I really think this guy is a land banker. He is certainly not a developer. We shall see what happens on this one.

Appears to be. If he is, he won't hold on long b/c that's a really steep price. 

Incidentally, I used to go to doctors there when I was at Vandy for allergy shots.
