I'm looking forward to seeing the new tower in all it's glory.  I have a feeling it is going to quickly become one of Nashville's more iconic photo generators.  Still though, I am sad to see Carmichael Towers go, if for no other reason than that is a net loss of three highrises in a district trying to increase it's highrise density.   I mean, architecturally the trade off is obviously worth it, but I'll still miss them nonetheless.

As far as population density goes, the new building will house more students than the two Carmichael Towers it is replacing so it is actually a net gain in that sense.

No doubt... and great point... that is the more important thing at the end of the day.

If it helps to think of in these terms... there will be another 10/12-story tower as a signature of the next phase.  Plus the sheer density of the buildings along West End with livelier street activation will make people forget about the Carmichael Towers in short order.  In addition to the density from Vandy's college dorms, there are the 26-story 2012 Tower... and Graduate Hotel... and the Vandy Graduate Village will actually add more height than people realize just from the renderings. The poor derivative of a Mies  (4X taller) tower notwithstanding, they will be about 120-130' tall and take up that block between Lyle and 20th. So more density is to come.

I have it on good information that the owners of the Banh Mi & Roll Factory (Vietnamese) food truck will be opening a store front in the Hillsboro Village Moxy in the spring.

E3 Chophouse (3 stories, 13,000 sq. ft.) at 1628 21st Ave. South in the V21 complex will open this weekend. The high-end steakhouse will feature all natural beef with no antibiotics, steroids, or added hormones.  The restaurant raises its own cattle in Kansas.There will also be an extensive choice of fine wines.  

On the third floor of the building is the only rooftop bar in the neighborhood, complete with fire pits and an open-air bar that will be temperature controlled for year-round access. A small tapas menu will be available, alongside high-end craft cocktails.

Don't recall seeing a rendering of this one. Will it go all the way to the sidewalk like the rest of the buildings in the Village?  I seem to recall a Dunkin Donuts at that location (IIRC). Or maybe it's the old Sunset location.

It was posted a year ago at this time. It will, indeed, come right up to the sidewalk along 21st and Belcourt Ave.  Will be a Luisiana-styled breakfast place covering two floors.  

The former building was initially a gas station for decades, then became Dunkin' Donuts, then another eatery (can't recall the name), before finally becoming Jackson's for about 15 years.

Whenever I see those townhouses, I think of a Hollywood set backdrop that can do double duty as Old San Francisco one day and Dodge City for Gunsmoke the next. IMHO, the overall look is junky.

Agreed...seems to be a very fake, Disney Main Street sort of thing. Incongruous with the neighborhood, too.
