Saint Thomas Midtown Hospital for Women is being planned for their midtown campus that will feature a 2 story, 100,000 sq. ft. structure.  Part of the the expansion will involve current space.  It is unclear in the article exactly where this will sit on their property. No price tag was announced.

I know some folks are lamenting the loss of dense, high-rise buildings along West End, but I'm elated by the removal of Carmichael Towers (I lived in T1 for 2 years).  I thought they were mostly hideous back then... I did like the second level above West End with the piano and conference rooms, but they were so seldom used for events. I went to a reunion about ten years ago and the outdoor portico was used for the event. It was very nice, but that was the first (and only) time I've ever seen them used. There were some cool things about the towers, but they were either too unusual or difficult to utilize.  As an alum, I have mixed emotions about the recreation of Hogwarts on West End, but I know schools compete these days on the amenities. I love the architecture of the new, but don't like how much is being spent on accoutrements.

Oh, wow.   I drove by this site yesterday and it looked like the buildings were being demolished.    Former Judge Bean's restaurant, specifically.

Old Vanderbilt tower demo is on-going.

From the campus-side point of view. Pretty impressive mound of dirt and debris there - the setup seems like it would make for a nice parkour-style video game level.

I wish the new tower were just 20% wider in each dimension, though.
