I know this building is fun to look at but,  the location is what makes this property worthy IMHO.                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                  ^^^Sorry, I worded the above statement wrong.  The existing building is funny to look at but, the land deserves better.

Vandy's Owens School of Management will see major exterior renovation to it's 1981-era building, as well as modernizing the building’s classrooms and bolstering its connections to the surrounding community.

Vanderbilt said the design concept under consideration features a “more welcoming building entrance facing 21st Avenue South; large, flexible multi-use spaces; additional and upgraded classrooms; additional faculty offices; and refreshed and reorganized student services space.”

Work is scheduled to start in spring of 2021. The price tag, architect, construction timetable, etc., have not been announced.

There isn't much room to add anything to this building without going up.  Can't wait to see how they add extra space.  This entrance looks far more inviting than the current one.  I spent two years of my life in this building and it is what brought me to Nashville 28 years ago.  Dean Eric Johnson is a wonderful person and a great leader.  The school has been one of the best business schools in the country for several decades now and deserves recognition and improvement.

Some interesting accomplishments by Owen professors:  In the mid-'90s, Bill Christie studied the workings of the U.S. stock markets and concluded that Nasdaq market makers were implicitly colluding to maintain artificially high trading profits at the expense of investors.  His research resulted in a sweeping reform of the Nasdaq market, saving investors billions of dollars in trading costs.  If you've bought or sold stock in the past 25 years, Bill Christie saved you money.  Bob Whaley developed the VIX index in 1993.  'nough said.
