A new rendering for The Haven at Charlotte (9-10 stories, 316 units...although another source notated that it is 360 units) that will fit on the thin strip 4.4 acres of land between OneC1TY and I-440 at 3025 Charlotte Ave. Guefen Development Partners is in charge. They plan to finalize the land purchase by the end of August.

EDI International is the architect; Kimley-Horn is in charge of land planning; Gresham Smith is the evil engineer.

WRONG... don't you see the fin on the end?  That means it's interesting architecture and definitely NOT just a copy of a hospital in 1920's Minsk!

I was recently driving a friend who grew up in communist Romania and her thought, immediately as we approached Haven from 65S, was "Oh... that's Soviet... wait no, it has an angle!!!"

Are they really not taking the Alsco property for this? That strip of land (former railroad ROW) is only 85 feet wide.

Vanderbilt Univ. has been granted a $33.2 million permit for further construction work on the update/expansion of Owen School of Management.  Barton Malow construction is in charge of the work.

This is a particularly egregious example of developers blocking sidewalks and a lane of traffic. For It seems no other reason than to ha e a place to park.

Absolutely! It makes walking from the free parking to the restaurants very dangerous as cars do not pay attention here.

The construction is moving at a snails pace too. Maybe it is the steel supply or something else, but damn is it going slow haha

On Saturday I saw a small shovel on site at the 910 8th Ave S development, the kind that would be used to tear down one story buildings.  Has a demo permit been pulled here yet?  Does anyone have an update on this project?

WeHo Nashville will now be the name of the residential complex originally to be called Wedgewood Lofts on 1.22 acres at 661 Wedgewood Ave.  It will be be 6 stories tall and feature 150 units, 3,000 sq. ft. ground level retail, a rooftop swimming pool, courtyard, and an internal garage.  The Arden group is the developer, having just paid $2.72 million for the property.  Ridgehouse Capital will also be a developing partner. A foundation and construction permit have been applied for, so work should begin shortly.

They were doing the utility marking there about a week ago and they have applied for a grading permit. If they are bringing large equipment on site, then they can get the permits one day and demo the next. That can happen pretty quick.

I don't know what it currently costs developers to get a permit for this sort of thing but I'd like to see Metro charge enough of a daily rate that builders really have to think about when it's worth renting that space vs just gobbling it all up for the duration of their project because it's cheap and convenient. The "Don't block my walk" push a few years ago was well-intentioned but it doesn't seem to have changed anything.

I recently stumbled across the fee schedule on the Metro site while looking into a project.

And this is the High Impact Zone

Making it so cheap to block a public ROW after just the 5th day is insanity. You look at the boutique hotel project on Main Street in East Nashville for instance. They have had a traffic lane and the sidewalk (sidewalk is the most important here) plus the lower half of McFerrin (between Woodland and Main) closed for the better part of 6 months! That is 157 days (minimum) and yet it only costs them (approximately) $14,000? Not to mention this project doesn't provide any new crosswalks for pedestrians to avoid the closure or any safety personal to assist with the cars and pedestrian confusion. Complete highway robbery that developers are able to get away with it. 

Lastly, I would've expected that the closure within the inner loop wo be a minimum of $1,000 per day for the duration of the project. I shouldn't be shocked though, it is almost like Nashville is promoting you to drive everywhere.
