1120 4th Ave. South (1-2 story industrial structure on .25 acre) has been bought for $2.8 million by Kent Marcus and Nick Hartley.  Marcus is a partner in the law firm Marcus & Colvin, which specializes in entertainment law and has clients including Paramore andKings of Leon. No word on what the immediate concept is for the structure, but it very well could be a new base of operations for their firm. The sellers,  Sharon and Chris Harmon, paid $125,000 for the site in 2001.  It is unclear where they plan to relocate their Azure Cabinets company that is currently located there.

Odyssey at the Park (5 stories, 75 units, ground level retail, internal garage) has landed a $7.22 million permit to continue work on the construction of the structure's shell.  Later phases will include Mosaic at the Park (53 units) and Athena at the Park (51 units).

They pulled their foundation permit yesterday.

Endeavor Real Estate Group (the folks behind 1200 Broadway and Gulch Union) have purchased 1 Music Circle South (3 stories, 27,000 sq. ft. on .5 acre)  from the United Methodist Church for $8.15 million.   We believe height codes for that area are around 8 stories.  For the short term, Endeavor will just lease the office space  in the building, which is not very old. 

Additionally, Endeavor purchased the adjoining lot just to the west at 7 Music Circle East, for $6.5 million last December.  So they are accumulating land for something of interest down the road. 

They may also try to purchase the surface lots at 6 and 8 Music Circle South from Oak Point, which recently paid $5 million for that cumulative .46 acre.

How would a novice such as myself go about figuring that out? Just search https://epermits.nashville.gov/ for the address?

When checking this site   https://epermits.nashville.gov/#/?searchType=permit     you have several different ways of checking. You can check the range of permits applied for from yesterday today and also permits applied for todays using todays date through todays date.

There is also a difference between open and issued. 

This is where you get the actual permits issues on a dally basis. .Building Permits Issued | Nashville Open Data Portal.

You cn also go through parcel viewer  Parcel Viewer (nashville.gov) and enter an address or parcel number and look under permit history and actually get even more information many times but not always.

 

Sorry to overwhelm you, but this comes with years of experience and had to learn it on my own. Taylor (downtownresident) is a wiz at this too. A lot better than me!
