And I don't think this has been posted.  The developer of the Welch College campus on West End has proposed a very-high-end development of 21 single unit homes of $1+ million along Richland, and 30 top-dog brownstones along West End.  The ornate stone library building will be saved.

Here is a breakdown of everything recently completed (since 2012), under construction, or proposed for the Music Row area toward Broadway. This does not include anything inside the I-40 loop or anything along West End Ave.  It also does not include anything Vanderbilt or Belmont is completing.  It's a pretty impressive collection of developments.  In my opinion, this area could turn into an iconic neighborhood that is truly mixed use in which live-work-play is equally balanced.  If we can somehow figure out how to preserve and market all of the culturally significant buildings in the area then this would be a dream neighborhood.  It would also make for a great terminus for a mass transit solution between downtown and this area.

Great combo rendering. Thanks for putting that together! What a great transformation for Midtown as a neighborhood.

 

Given how consistent the height is for all of those, it seems logical that one of the next proposals would aim to stand out a bit and go a little taller, right?

I hope so, I'm looking at Midtown Nashville as an extension of downtown the gulch and capital view development are blending these two areas in Very well Edited June 23, 2015 by chris holman

I'm still trying to visualize how our overall skyline will look when most of these projects are complete. Despite our complaints about lack of height, I think we will still have an impressive skyline for a city of our size in a couple of years. I think it will just look linear and long instead of tall.

I wouldn't be surprised to see Beaman at least sell some of his smaller lots in the short term while holding on to his main lot for a while. Seems like some of that inventory could move to a secondary lot out in the burbs and expand his market reach.

I've spent many hours on Google Maps 3D angles trying to visualize this very thing. While I think I have a good idea, I feel like I will still be blown away in 5 years. Just as the frankenrender that PHofKS kindly produced, I think we are going to see a drastically different Midtown skyline. It's not going to resemble anything like Atlanta's Midtown in terms of height, but I think the street-level density is going to be amazing (at least on the Demonbreun/Division/21st/Music Row cluster).

 

Given the large footprint of Midtown, from Music Row/Vandy to Charlotte, and with the Gulch filling in and SoBro going up, I think we are going to have a urban district that will rival many of our Southern neighbors (not the shear height of Atlanta, and not the breadth of dense street grid like Richmond or Birmingham, but a great balance of both).

Lee Beaman has no shame and thinks because he has money, he can bully by using his money to influence for his and only his benefit.
