That's awesome news!! Woohoo!! I went to  a Southern Land Town Meeting at one of the Lincoln Tech buildings back on Sept. 13th. Loved the proposals and concept drawings. Most of the pretty packed room were on-board. Always a few folks bound and determined to not hear what's being offered to improve the community safety, value, amenities, aesthetics, etc..  But the SL folks handled objections and some fairly nonsensical points with patience. Handled them a lot better than I would've, LOL.  Hope this makes it through the economic headwinds and proceeds accordingly.

I've seen some folks bash on the aesthetics of this one.

I love the design on this building: paint colors are top-tier and the façade articulation is pretty good (strong horizontal lines play into the mid-century theme really well).

An SP application was submitted today for 1003 Douglas Ave (the NADC dorms). It does not appear this is part of the redevelopment of that campus.

Correct, it is not. This parcel was sold off by the school a year or two years ago to I believe a developer out of Florida.

Decent Site Plan. No curb cut on Douglas - Huge win - and all the parking is screened with the exception of the alley. A lot of parking is being provided for not having retail. This is an SP so the parking maximum penalty against FAR is easy to work around, but the parking maximum for a UZO property is 1 spot per studio/1-bedroom and 1.5 spots for 2+ bedrooms. This development works out to be about 2 spots for the 2 bedroom units.

As far as I know these guys are new player to Nashville.

Huuuuge win, indeed! Hope this progresses. The irony is - even though the existing complex is pretty rough to look at, it's probably built a lot better than 95% of the crap going up today. ;-)
