I can't believe anyone would rehab that building.  Went in there last around early 2013 and it was awful.  I remember when the owner listed it for sale on Craigslist for something insanely low like in the 100s of thousands.

And demolition has started! The building behind the old Cizar’s is leveled. The main building (former home of Young’s Fashion) is having asbestos removed.

This is so exciting!  The final plat filing to consolidate the parcels into a total of three (the retail on both sides of Gallatin is one parcel plus the two residential parcels on Greenwood and Sharpe) is scheduled for the April 25th Planning Commission agenda and should be administratively approved.  The final site plan still needs approval before construction can begin.

The building that is home to Pizzareal is up for sale. I believe March Egerton is the owner.

If you look at Google Maps you'll see that Steak and Pizza is now showing up as Once Upon A Time In France.  Looks like a catering company?

Bill Martin’s to close after 58 years. Rumor is S and S property management (same group that’s developed most of Martin’s corner) is the buyer and has plans for a mixed use development.

Vandyke Bed and Beverage (a high end 8 unit boutique hotel and eatery) will open April 1st  in the just-completed 3 story Eastsider building at 105 South 11th St. near Five Points.  Vandyke Bed & Beverage has a ground-floor bar and restaurant open to the public, an outdoor courtyard where guests and bar patrons can drink and dine al fresco, and a rooftop where guests can hang out and attend events, such as yoga classes.

Yes, the MDHA residents in Cayce, CWA (the housing on Shelby is CWA, not Cayce, but was acquired by MDHA) and Edgefield Manor are quite concerned about the loss of both the Family Dollar and Bill Martin's.  Those were the only two stores that sold food within walking distance of Cayce.  We need to arrange more transportation options to get residents to Kroger/Aldi grocery stores while a new tenant can be found for the Family Dollar space.  H.G. Hill owns that parcel as @smeagolsfree mentioned and invested quite a bit in cleaning it up for the Family Dollar.  But there were issues with litter, dumping, and other matters.  It is possible that Kroger and Aldi are able to offer cheaper pricing on groceries and goods anyway, but transportation is difficult and there is not a bus route that goes that way.

Robinson Flats in Old Hickory has made a lot of progress. Looks like the finishing touches are being done now.

I’m happy they retained and renovated the large home on the property. Although it was not “historic,” it certainly was an imposing fixture on OHB.

It would have been nice if they had done a better job of matching the new buildings to the home, however.

The house was painted white in this transformation-it was either red or brown brick (I’m not certain, as I did not pass that way too frequently). So the mismatch is intentional. Go figure!
