I know this is just my opinion, but I strongly like this building. It offers an almost ominous look. It's clean and not "busy" like so many other similar-sized buildings we are getting. I simply like grays, blacks, charcoals, dark blues and white on buildings. Makes let look permanent and strong. In contrasts, fire engine red, pastels/creams, yellow (typically)... just don't work for me.

Obviously, this is very subjective.

I think it may be a "man" thing.  My dad built our family a black brick house with black shingle roof...and it always just looked so dark to me.  When I see black on black, I guess it reminds me of the 70's.  Personally...if there was something to contrast the black a bit, it probably wouldn't look so brutal to me.  But it makes me wonder if it's just a male / female thing.  It seems most of the men on here like the black on black look.

That's very possible, because I love that look too, not just in architecture, but in interior design and automobiles and other areas... probably something psychological to it. lol

For example, this is my car (not this particular one, but it's just like it)... I think it makes me feel like I'm batman or something. lmao

My car is black on black, too...so I guess I have no issue with that color scheme on cars...just buildings.

I drove past it today and I think it looks fairly nice. Maybe pictures don't do it justice.

The coin laundry at 1202 Gallatin Avenue has closed after 48 years. No word on what will take over the space.  The building itself is a bit dilapidated, but it is in an area of Gallatin Rd that will certinaly look different in a few years.

The bank building between Towne Place Suites and Arby's on Elm Hill Pike near Nelson Place (directly across the street from Thomas Nelson HQ) is being razed.  Wonder if another hotel may be in the works?

Since Hotel Air B&B and Glo Hotel clearly spent the bare minimum on exterior design, maybe they'll pass along those savings to their customers.

A 5 story boutique hotel is being planned on the .2 acre site at 916 Main St. by M Cubed Developments.  It will feature 24 units, ground floor retail, and a 20 space garage underground.  Powell Architecture + Building Studio will be in charge of design. The team will go before MDHA Design Review on June 4th to seek approval.

The site is just to the east of Edley's BBQ, and just to the west of Molly Green's Clothing Boutique.
