Fat Bottom Brewery will be part of the conversion of Eastside Church of Christ at 2518 Gallatin Ave. into a boutique hotel and microbrewery.  They have secured a $517,000 permit for conversion of the sanctuary into the bar.  Eshelman Construction is handling the work, and Daniels + Chandler are the architects.

A mixed-use building that will feature residential and office space is being envisioned for the .6 acre site at 943-947 Woodland St.  The existing structure that is there was being remodeled when it was severely damaged by the March tornado, and now has sold to Clay Haynes and Terry Hughes of Fourth Coordinate, who plan the mixed-use project.  No renderings as of yet.

The auditorium portion of Riverside Revival at 1600 Riverside Drive, is now open. The former church sanctuary has been made into a 3,177 sq. ft. performance venue, with a capacity of 420 people. The space is equipped with sound, lighting, equipment and labor within the rental fee, and offers discounted rates for nonprofits.

Weathered steel can be a great material when used in the right setting..... This is not the right setting (IMO)

A couple new  East Nashville projects being developed by Razor & Tie record label:

1) 3 Mcferrin Ave. will be 2 stories, with 5,000 sq. ft. of office space on .34 acre.

2) 918 Main St.  will be a 5 story retail/residential project on the site that of the former Molly Green clothing store that was destroyed in the March tornado.

Both projects are designed by Powell Studio architects. Each has been approved by the MDHA Design Review Committee.

These both look great and would be big improvements over the buildings that sat on those sites previously, although I obviously feel bad for the businesses who had been in those buildings that were destroyed by the tornado.
 

There are some unfortunate underground utility issues in this area and perhaps having 3 McFerrin excavated and redeveloped will allow that long-needed utility work to commence.

The 918 Main parcel would have been a good opportunity to consolidate with 916 next door to have that project wrap the corner, because the 916 project presently appears to be shoehorned in there a bit. But this 5-story building would wrap that corner nicely and provide good massing around the Main/McFerrin intersection, which is finally becoming a “downtown East Nashville” segment of the street.
 

When Amplify Apartments and Fieldhouse Jones reopen and if the 815 Main project moves forward at Neal Ave, this area of Main will finally start coming together in a manner that might prompt some of the surrounding underutilized parcels to sell and redevelop as well.
