This area would be perfect to build those "house on the hills" LA-type homes...

Yes it would, Nashtitans. Been trying to buy a lot there for 2 years. Apparently, so have lots of other people - commercial developers, mostly (with deeper pockets). Our town is such that unrealized value/potential is pretty hard to unlock for the average citizen these days.

Totally agree. I think we were blessed with hilly topography inside the city, we should use it.

From the Nashville Post:

Plans for an approximately $100 million mixed-use project announced two years ago and eyed for 15 acres in South Davidson County remain viable.

Brentwood-based developer GBT Realty Corp. announced in mid-2015 Crestview at The Summit, a project to include two office towers, 1,400 parking spaces, a hotel and a restaurant. Engineer Carl Adams Jr., who is based in Brentwood, owns the property.

The site is located at the southeast corner of the Interstate 65 and Old Hickory Boulevard interchange near Brentwood.

No site work has commenced on the property since the announcement. However, in a statement, GBT noted progress is being made.

“Although we continue to work with Carl Adams Jr. to ensure The Summit at Crestview comes to fruition, a national office development company will be taking over day-to-day operations in the near future,” the statement reads. “This enables our diversified development team to focus solely on A-plus urban core mixed-use and multi-family development throughout the Southeast and Midwest.  We expect to announce the developer later this year.”

Since the Crestview at The Summit announcement, GBT's diversified development division has begun work on two urban Nashville developments: Village 21 at Regions Park (nearing completion) and Belcourt Park (just underway). Both are in Hillsboro Village.

Nashville real estate investor Darek Bell has paid just over $4 million for a warehouse property in the Wedgewood-Houston area, which he plans to renovate into a mix of light industrial "maker" and creative office space and use a portion for his Corsair Distillery.

Bell declined to comment on a microbrewery also being among possibilities for the 1.2 acre location at 429 Houston St., which he bought from the owners of Outdoor Lighting Perspectives. Outdoor Lighting has three months to exit a 28,000-square-foot building on the site that's a minute's drive from Corsair Distillery's headquarters and taproom.

Since last month's announcement of Ikea's plans to purchase 36 acres, Century Farms co-developer Oldacre McDonald of Nashville said it has seen increased interest in the overall project — from retail and restaurant prospects to independent living facility, hotel, office building and multifamily residential developers.

The city is seeking to buy the former Antioch area Kmart store site, which would become home to a new Metro Police southeast precinct and possibly other public facilities.  Mayor Megan Barry is requesting Metro Council's approval to pay up to $7.45 million for the five parcels totaling 25 acres on Murfreesboro Pike near Edge O Lake Drive. In addition to the new precinct, Metro has identified the property as the possible location for a new Emergency Communications Center.
