Pretty upsetting that the 2a/2b area in pink will not be redeveloped into higher density. These homes are in no way historic, in my opinion, and the area can still be affordable with mixed-use development. 

Nothing against the owners of these homes, but I would prefer the main street to the MLS stadium would be more active than this:

I think we will end up with more things like this on Wedgewood which would be great and look great and is right at the entrance to The Fairgrounds. It's on the other side of Wedgewood which isn't in the zone.

It would be awesome. This is a developer that lives on 2nd Ave S. He lives in this one and he said he plans to keep building them.

This is a great example of what I'd like to see developers try to achieve along Nashville's main thoroughfares. Have no idea why developments have setbacks that require a small patch of grass when they can build right up to the sidewalk. It's baffling to me.

Agreed completely.  It drives me up the wall, to be honest.  That grass patch is absolutely useless.

So true. You can't even plant a tree in it. As opposed to a house that can abut the sidewalk and have a large backyard that could actually accompany a tree or several.  And those stupid little brick posts!?! I mean... is there any doubt that that's your yard? Or do you want people to stay off it... but only partly. Like maybe they could stick their feet over there because you don't have an actual fence? And those houses beside it are so out of scale. That block is a disaster.

Construction on Nashville's first major "innovation district" designed for startups and technology businesses could begin early next year at the dead Global Mall at the Crossings in Antioch.

Local car dealership owner Ben Freeland will present plans he's studied since entering into a contract to buy the 600,000 sq. ft. mall in June on Tuesday night. The public meeting will begin at 6 p.m. in the Southeast Nashville Community Center. 

New upscale office and residential buildings are in the early design plans along with entertainment uses and retail shops. No tenants have been named.

The mall's parking lot would be overhauled with walkable streets and sidewalks, and a new transit center, Freeland said.   

Rather than tearing down the indoor mall, built in the late 1970s as the Hickory Hollow Mall, Freeland wants to turn it into an array of offices and spaces for manufacturing, logistics and hospitality startups and technology companies.

Last night several hundred folks, including Mayor Cooper,  attended a community meeting in regards to Ben Freeland's plans to repurpose the former Hickory Hollow Mall.
 

Freeland said he can remake the indoor shopping center into creative offices and a variety of advanced manufacturing work spaces for technology companies and startups.

The entrepreneurial mix of businesses would provide room and a community for students to commercialize new ideas, and bring more workforce development to the area. 

The mall parking lot would be redesigned with streets, sidewalks and open spaces. A new Metro transit center is also likely to be included. 

He also plans to build new upscale office buildings, homes, retail stores, and entertainment and recreation areas. 

More detailed plans will be presented next month after community input is gathered, Freeland said.
