From Colby about the new overlay.

"Last year, the Planning Commission approved the Wedgewood-Houston/Chestnut Hill Study Plan, a guiding document designed to empower residents in directing growth in these neighborhoods. For the past year, the Planning Department has been working on an Urban Design Overlay to implement that guidance, and is ready for community input. I will hold a virtual community meeting Monday, Dec. 21 at 4 p.m.to discuss the proposed overlay. If you wish to attend, please reply to this message or email me at [email protected]."

Brand Properties will develop a five building, 4 story, 314 unit complex o. several acres at 708 Berry Rd. A structure facing Berry Rd. will be razed, but a warehouse at the back end (north side) of the site will apparently be adapted for use within the development. Studio Architects are handling design, and Kimley-Horn will be in charge of land-planning/engineering. Rezoning approvals have already been granted. No groundbreaking date has been set.

Fourth Coordinate (led by Clay Haynes and Terry Hughes) is under contract to buy the 645,000 sq. ft. Hickory Hollow Mall.

The process isn’t far along enough to announce any definite design plans, the two men said, but the space will likely be multi-use, and final project costs will total at least $100 million. They said the concrete and steel building’s “amazing bones” inspired them on a tour earlier this year.
