GCS Properties will convert a former auto shop at 1020 3rd Ave. South into a co-working space to be called The Shop that will feature 6,000 sq. ft. of space.  The first tenant will be Fuoco LLC, a health care marketing firm.

That area has already started filling with a number of cross fit places. Now a co-working space. Won't be long before we get our first legit restaurant/bar.

Hate to tell them that technically that area is Chestnut Hill, but who the heck cares anymore. They end up calling something off of 12th and South the Gulch too.

Well the back faces the railroad, the parking machine,  and a hill. Not much out there to look at.

I've seen these crate developments before, and often times they look pretty good to my eye, but in this case, I agree with you.  I mean, who made the decision to use rusted shipping crates?

You say rusted I say patina'd, weathered, distressed...uglied? Do shipping containers actually make good living spaces? Seems like they'd be a beotch to insulate

Wouldn't you just frame out all of the inside...blow in insulation and then add drywall?  Seems like it would be insulated well enough.
