BIG NEWS (no?)... https://www.tennessean.com/story/news/local/wilson/2020/10/12/state-legislature-asked-look-combining-wilson-county-and-tennessee-state-fairs/5883722002/

The recommendation for the state legislature to consider seeks to incorporate the state fair into the successful Wilson County Fair, but with funding needs and multiple details to be worked out.

Good riddance to the State Fair. A perfect fit for Wilson County, besides the State Fair always drew the wrong type of crowd at that location.

600 block of Merritt has been closed for several weeks while the sewers are upgraded.    I'd been hoping that was a sign The Finery would get moving soon.

Just looking at that project today. It has big money and names behind it, so maybe thats what they are waiting on. Colby would know for sure.

If they do it, they need to think of a way to keep the Wilson County Fair its own entity...while adding the State Fair.  If I were them, I would start on a Thursday with the Wilson County Fair...with rides and all of the county contests they have...and run it through the following Thursday...then Friday, it starts the State fair, which will include state-wide contests and additional carnival rides added on to make the state fair bigger than the Wilson County fair...and would possibly cause those who had attended the Wilson Co Fair to come back for the additional rides.  Total time would be about 3 weeks.

Market Street Townhomes will be made up of 10 units (3 stories?) at 1242 2nd Ave. South being developed for $4 million by John Hays.  Root Architecture is in charge of the design. No renderings available yet. Work has recently begun.

Somera Road has purchased two parcels with a cumulative 2.6 acres at SE corner of Merritt Ave. and Martin St. in WeHo (1300 Martin and 513-525 Merritt AVe. for a total of $11.5 million. Somera Road has no immediate plans for the property.  They trend to specialize in repurposing older buildings or adding to existing structures for mixed-use purposes.

Somera Road also owns the former factory at 1414 4th AVe. South with plans for a large creative office space project to be known as WeHo Crossings, as well as work that is underway at 700 8th Ave. South for conversions of the Voorhees and former Antique Mall into office space.

Fingers crossed Somera Road buys the trailer park in NE corner of Martin/Hamilton intersection.

The owner hasn’t been in a big rush. He has said that he is being very specific on who buys it. He wants it to be mixed-use with places that benefit the neighborhood.

If Wedgewood Houston can resemble Cincinnati's "Over-The-Rhine" neighborhood, it would be amazing for Nashville.

Nice reference.  Over-The-Rhine is a great neighborhood.  Big difference being the  volume of fantastic restored late 19th century buildings there that combine with the new mixed use construction,  creates a great urban feel,  almost like Greenwich Village or something.   Agreed as to  the  hope that WeHo will have that dense, concentrated feel,  having a market like Findlay Market would be a awesome too.

Yeah I don't see any BroadWest type developments happening in WeHo (or if WeHo zoning even permits that type of density), but 446 Humphreys and the developments on Hamilton are equivalent to an OTR feel. Just pray it continues down towards The Fairgrounds.

I would love it more housing like this sprung up and down 2nd and 4th and on Rains, Wedgewood (some happening there already), Brandsford and all the roads leading to the Fairgrounds.

With corners having retail/bars/restaurants built in. In that 3-5 story range would be awesome.

I do wish the ones on Wedgewood (the big row) had more character.

I believe WeHo and Chestnut Hill all top out at 10 stories if I remember correctly from when the Nashville Warehouse Company was going through zoning.

Is that an optical illusion with a three story townhouse being that much taller than the two story house next door? Weird side by side.

The 2 story one sits pretty far off the road.

I wonder how zoning works for connected row houses and if it’s even possible.
