Tony Giarratana is targeting a fall groundbreaking for 5 story Victory Hall, a 40-unit residential building to be developed in conjunction with nonprofit veterans group organization Operation Stand Down Tennessee and the MDHA. it will feature undergroundparking.

Designed by ESa and to sit at  1117 12th Ave. South, the building will offer housing and services for veterans (via Operation Stand Down) and some university housing.

Tony Giarratana says the project is a part of the company’s efforts to aid Metro’s concerns regarding affordable housing solutions.

Nice to see.     We are woefully underserved in terms of Metro owned soccer pitches.   I'd like to see us continue to add more whenever land becomes available.

One confusion I have is that the last time I drove past the racetrack site, there seemed to be lots of development going on (many grass lots being scraped clean) Are they not waiting until everything has been approved to build everything?

To bad I am not the mayor, I would sell the blasted fairgrounds to the lowest bidder.  MMM Higher Bidder I guess. But at least we will hopefully get a soccer stadium unless the idiots that want to keep the fairgrounds have their way.

Oh yeah it has to be the MLS Stadium and specifically the 10 acres the developers are getting.

But let's be honest if it wasn't the 10 acres, it would be something else, the land is just something for FAIRGROUNDS SHOULD NEVER CHANGE EVER NEVER, crowd to latch onto.

I’ve seen a surprising amount of bitterness on Facebook about the 10 acres that was part of the stadium deal. I wouldn’t have thought it would be such a big deal, considering nothing else about the fairgrounds is changing except for the better.

It is changing though. I think that is the entire problem for the anti- crowd. 

 

10 acres is 8% of the acreage at the Fairgrounds, I mean come on!

I was just driving on Craighead, and hopefully the stadium/fairgrounds plans calls for sidewalks on that street, people walk/run there all the time and there is nothing.

Armistead Arnold Pollard Real Estate Services is looking to build a 4 story building with about 75 condos at 909 Hawkins St. an .8 acre site that sits just a block south of the southern inner loop. They are seeing a zoning change from Metro Council next week that would allow for 4 stories, and changing from existing industrial zoning to residential/mixed-use. The plan calls for 2 ground floor retail spaces, totally about 2,500 sq. ft, and an underground garage. No renderings available yet. The vote will be May 15.

The current building on-site is about 14,000 square feet and most recently leased to Music City Motorsports.
