Have heard Walgreens.

That's what I heard at first and then CVS was mentioned.  It reminded me of the 'Rumor' or 'Telephone' game we played in high school.

This type of store has been high on the wish list for downtown residents for many years.

No offense to the folks who operated CityFire, but as an occasional visitor to see friends who live in the Gulch, I can attest that a downsized Walgreens, CVS or even something like Dollar General's new DG concept might be appreciated more than another restaurant -- especially with big hotel/residential projects continuing to sprout up.

Just noticed over the weekend that the Loft clothing store in the Gulch appears to have closed. Any idea if something else is going in that spot?

The Loft website confirms that this store is now closed.  So sad.  My wife and daughters found many good things there at good prices over the years.  I haven't heard of what might be going in there.

Is there a technical reason the two poles could not have been combined, or is it a lack of coordination?

Thank you.

I'm guessing different ownership... the signals are likely property of Metro public works. The 5G transmitter is likely a private entity.  Seems that technically it's possible to combine them, but as technology changes over time, a combined unit might make updates to the 5G more difficult.

But we're good with the asphalt on concrete patch job or the trashcan obstructing the sidewalk?

They’ll go back and replace the asphalt with concrete. It’s typical for them to use asphalt at first with these installations. The trash can definitely needs to be moved though.

Thank you.

I've always wondered what those black poles are. I seem to recall seeing those 5G poles combined with street lighting or traffic lights at some locations around Nashville.

They’re combining them with street lights, existing telephone poles, and the wayfinding signage. I haven’t seen one on a traffic light yet.

It takes a substantial structure to support a mast-arm  mounted traffic signal display. The moments (engineering term) created are very large and require custom built poles and very deep foundations in addition to thick (expensive) steel poles with thick walls.

The costs of building these poles is great and you don't want to add on extra volume and weight to accommodate other non-traffic signal purposes. A separate pole for 5G or whatever can be built less expensively than adding on to the signal support poles.

Thanks! I have always wondered how deep these go. And that's a heck of ground rod
