Pinellas likely to vote in 2014 on one-cent sales tax for light rail and expanded bus service

Although it wouldn't affect the Orlando area directly, I thought it was interesting another urban Florida county (and a historically Republican one with lots of retirees, at that) believes it is not suicide to offer a sales tax dedicated to transit. The times may be a changin' in the Sunshine State at long last:

Believe it when I see it.  Remember, as advanced as we are here in Orlando with our SunRail and LYMMO - it didn't come via referendum and we still don't have a dedicated source of transit funding - even having had the option to use the rental surcharge.
