We don't like to talk about Parkway Towers.

Unfortunately for us all though, they do exist... What were architects thinking in the 1960s-1970s? It's like half of UT's campus, especially the Humanities and Social Sciences buildings and plaza. Just...ugh.

That building is rumored to have a major rehab in the future if the rest of the surrounding lots are developed and its still 262 feet tall. Not too shabby for Nashville.

Great! If you want me to integrate them into the articles, just post up links to the images once you upload them to Wikimedia Commons (http://commons.wikimedia.org). I'd recommend creating an account so you can keep track of what you put up and what they're being used for on the various Wikipedias.

Nashville-Davidson-Murfreesboro-Franklin area is now at 1,639,245 and moved up to 37th largest metro in the US from 38th in 2010.

There's been a whole discussion about how to properly display the populations, and whether or not to use the population of Davidson County or the balance population not including the semi-independent insular cities, so I'll hold off on making that change until that all is sorted out.

Actually, when the building was first built, the office tower had a more earth tone scheme which matched the lower garage part in tone and color. It looked a lot better than it does now. Some years later, someone painted the tower a garish black and white. What they were thinking, I'll never know?

A crude representation of how much the original color scheme differs from today's facade. The horizontal structure was not quite that yellow, but more earth toned than I was able to paste onto this picture. I wish they would paint it back the way it was.

I've got some pictures I took last year which I haven't fully gone through. Some of them might be useful. I'm heading to my house in Knoxville where they are at (I've been in Tullahoma for abit for school stuff). I'll see if I can grab them this Sunday.

For goodness sake, can we please get the statistics fixed.

Even before the new (2010) Census stats came out, I've seen incredible inconsistencies with city population, county population, and density.

Looks like the city population (601,222) has finally been fixed. However, the county population (consolidated) is 626,681 (currently a typo with 662,681).

City density is 1,265.4 ppsm. County density is 1,243.3 ppsm. The "balance" land area 475.3 sq mi.

Outside of Nashville, a number of the surrounding cities need to fix their density numbers and land area.

What is listed:

Clarksville - 132,929, 94.9 sq mi, (no density listed)

Murfreesboro - 108,755, 39.0 sq mi, 2,800 ppsm

Franklin - 62,487, 30.0 sq mi, 1,393.3 ppsm

Hendersonville - 51,372, 27.3 sq mi, 1,637.6 ppsm

Smyrna - 39,974, 22.8 sq mi, 1,119.8 ppsm

Brentwood - 37,163, 34.6 sq mi, 676.7 ppsm

While a lot of our Middle Tennessee cities and towns experienced a good deal of population growth, a number of them had to annex land to accomplish that. Adding the population without adjusting the land area skews the population density...just a bit.

When did you try? There was a bit of a debate over the proper population figures a while back, but I think that's all been straightened out now. Go ahead and try changing it now and you should be fine. If someone reverts your edits without good explanation, call them out on the talk page with an explanation of why you made the edit in the first place.

It was not long after the new figures came out. Other "big" cities were updating their wiki data, and I wanted to make sure Nashville was one of them.

I'll try again soon, when I have the time. I'd like to make sure that all of Middle Tennessee is updated.

I've been working on this.. got several photos uploaded.. not the greatest photos as I had to do pano's, but better than nothing I guess. I might try to get some better ones eventually.

One thing I noticed, i'm not sure the SunTrust building page is correct.. .maybe it was the previous home to SunTrust? I don't really know.. .but some of the references are incorrect as the building that was sold for $6mil to Eakin was the parking garage across from the new SunTrust Plaza, at 4th & Commerce. Here's a pic of the building sold to Eakin:

It was the parking garage used by Suntrust when they were in the tower at 201 4th Avenue North. Tenants of the L&C and the Courtyard by Marriott also park there, but Eakin has owned it for a decade at least. Suntrust employees still park there. There are office suites on the 8th floor, and the first floor has been slated for a restaurant for 10 years but has never happened. The parking garage underneath the new Suntrust Plaza Building is for the other tenants of the building, and the Ryman also gets to use that parking garage as well.

Eakin has had this building on their portfolio for a long time, and has done nothing with the building. Rumor had it at one time adding several flor to the building to bring it up to 15-20 stories, but obviously that never happened either.

Ugh, I have always despised 1960s era buildings use of architectural brick and the standard criss-cross facade on these parking garages. Frankly, an open deck looks better than this ugly, imposing monster. I doubt that these have any structural value, and all they do is keep light out of the already darkened space of the garage, impede air flow, and draw attention to the uninspired upper levels of this building.
