This is most interesting because it represents quite a change in uber-conservative Lake County. Tavares is the county seat of Lake, but somewhat smaller than other towns like Leesburg. Lake has been in the news this week for the school board debating whether to ban a gay-straight alliance but here's Tavares on the cutting edge of social progressivism! 

 

Tavares has been doing some interesting things lately like welcoming seaplanes to town as part of a drive to attract more economic activity. It appears they're willing to see if diversity attracts more folks to town as well. Good for them!
