I have not hated this building yet, but I’ll  admit  the proportions for the pyramid are too small for the width of this building. The base of the pyramid needs to be bigger, as well as the pyramid. The building too dramatically stops just before the base of the pyramid. I’ll wait until we get a more finished project. Hopefully the contrast of the roof, and the base of the pyramid is not so abrupt as it appears during the beginning stages of construction.

Call me crazy but I do like there being a pyramid so close to DEC.  I think they go together well.

That illustration is proportional?  

Someone said recently somewhere on this board they hate to see architects used outside of CLT.  Well here is a perfect reason why.  Local firms just can't design anything more than a big box store.  BofA facilities management is culpable as well along with of course the relic spearheading this mega site.

With the small base, along with the big setback of the pyramid, would have been perfect for an observation deck...imagine a restaurant inside the pyramid too. Damn...oh well. My quest for an observation deck continues.

It's a missile silo, no one would order a building this bad except for the US government, the pyramid will be on a hinge and will open up when it is time to launch.  They are doing it in plain sight to avoid suspicion for the upcoming alien invasion when this building will save Charlotte with its secret payload

I agree 100% that the proportions are WAY off but.....

Question: What are your comparisons between the Barings High Rise and Legacy Union 1?  Legacy is taller (Yay!) but seems to me like Barings may have more interesting design and light display.

Absolutely looks like the ginormous pencils we used in kindergarten.  I have tried so hard to like this building.  Never wished a tower in this city was shorter until now

I don't think the proportions will be as big of a deal visually once there are buildings around it.

Y'all need to chill out.  Sure, maybe it doesn't have the absolute best proportions in the history of proportions, but I think it will look much more acceptable once the glass and beige go up.  Right now, BOAT is basically running around shirtless, and is kind of like that guy who looks decent with the right set of clothes on, but you'd prefer him to leave his shirt on at the beach.

My position on this building hasn't changed since the day renderings were released.  On a positive note, Crescent ended up with a decent design...

Don't knock it until it's finished. It could easily end up looking elegant and make a great addition to the the skyline even if the proportions are kind of off.
