LU2 is going to be gorgeous.

I like those  sculptures on Tryon near the overpass.  I remember when they were installed.  The area seemed like a “no man’s land” then, and yet, look at it now..

View of the Honeywell site and Legacy 2 tower.  From the mega garage I can see at least 4 more large high rise towers on these 2 blocks given the footprints of the existing tower.   One thing I noticed today and does anyone know about this why would they put a set of rails in the walkway between the mega garage and future towers maybe for one of those incline railways down the hill to the stadium or a cable car?   I just thought that was interesting.  From my walkabout today.    Believe me that garage is solid not a prefab concrete snap together garage.  Perhaps they should put a Helipad on the top floor.

I believe the rails were there years before when the Observer had railcars deliver newsprint and other supplies. The rails led to the lower level of the building.

I thought that at first but this was all newly constructed.

I noticed tonight around 7pm that legacy was lit up in panther blue and blinking to a beat at the pyramid and the lights on the side that shine vertical.  It was pretty cool.  Never seen that done before

Haven't seen the tracks in person so I cannot say if maybe they were moved but I honestly doubt it considering the effort it would take, do they lead to the tracks across mint that continue into the rear entry/player's parking lot for the stadium? I always wondered about them, crazy to think that newspapers were such a big business that a train had to be used to deliver supplies, really cool they incorporated that into the design, gold star for them. 

In regards to the deck, I can second that notion, it's not your typical "bounces when you drive on it" deck. With that being said, is there a snowball's chance in hell anything would ever be built on top?

The tracks really don't lead anywhere but maybe they plan on showcasing an old Charlotte streetcar or something to play off the Legacy name I am not sure but it is mystery.

I don't know about this.  Perhaps I need to see it in person to appreciate it, but looking at this gif, and the one in the link SydneyCarton posted above, this looks Las Vegas tacky to me.  What happens in Las Vegas really needs to stay in Las Vegas.

I agree. I think it’s the design of the building that’s throwing it off for me. The lights would look great on a more modern building  or even DEC.

Actually, I like the building, and I think the blue light on it is stunning, as I stated in an earlier comment.  It's just the flashing of the light that I find absolutely hideous.  And I see that my expression of this opinion in my last comment earned me my first down vote in this forum.  Woohoo!  I guess I've finally arrived!

I think it'll look really cool as long as they don't use it too much. It'd be nice to see the colors go like that whenever the Panthers score or something like the Duke Energy building does.

I think they were just testing it out. I doubt they'll have any sort of display that gaudy unless they coordinated with other towers or for an especially prominent event. Like adding to the dazzle of uptown fireworks on the fourth.

Me too. I also wish it curved with the street. Huge missed opportunity in my opinion. Still glad to have it rising, but we really should have developers consider the future of our city when viewing  how the architecture of the structure will play off the fabric of the city itself. Fifty years from now, will it still have relevance, or will it be a box with windows and a fin/wing.  To me, buildings like The Chrysler  building are timeless. Whereas stucco clad high rises (like so many Uptown) are a way to value engineer at the expense of sacrificing the beauty of what the future could hold. I understand in a capitalist economy making money is job one, I just really wish we could hold developers to a higher standard in an urban core we all share. 

There is a reason world class cities are world class! When I’m in Europe it is truly awe inspiring to see buildings built hundreds of years ago still evokes such a sense of grandeur.
