CHARLOTTE, N.C. — Highwoods Properties Inc. has closed on its $436 million acquisition of the Bank of America Tower at Legacy Union in downtown Charlotte. The 841,000-square-foot building was 90 percent leased at the time of sale. The LEED Gold-certified office tower was delivered earlier this year and features a parking deck. The seller, Lincoln Harris, is developing Legacy Union, a 10-acre development adjacent to Bank of America Stadium, home of the National Football League’s Carolina Panthers. The Bank of America Tower is the first building to deliver at Legacy Union, with Honeywell’s corporate headquarters slated for completion in 2021. Bank of America began moving employees to the office building in August. Truist, the name of the new company formed from the BB&T-SunTrust merger, began moving into Bank of America’s former space at Hearst Tower in Charlotte.

I think we are LONG overdue for a new tallest. It's been 28 long years since the Bank of America Corporate Center opened and has held the title. I don't want it to break 112 Tryon Plazas record of 35 years as the cities tallest.

I'd rather see First Ward increase in density with varying heights of towers.

I don’t see this area being a spot for the new tallest...it should be more centrally located like near BofA. The north end needs this momentum

Per their marketing documents, the roof of that parking deck, is built to accommodate a 50k sq foot office expansion of the 4th floor of Legacy Union. What is not clear, however, is if it is also built to accommodate an additional phase.

Oh I agree completely.  I didn't mean specifically at Legacy Union. My bad. I'm just jonesing for a 1000 footer

I think Lincoln Harris is not a developer that will build a new tallest building ever, anywhere. That’s a big risk.

And a three use tower, would take three different lobby’s, and a big footprint. I’d rather densify.

I don’t think a new tallest will happen until uptown is devoid of parking lots, and they have to start tearing down 1960s-70s buildings.

From Fox 46 mobile crane tipped over at the Honeywell  Tower site I think it might have been setting up the 2nd tower crane.

Fox 46 is on the scene of a crane accident in uptown Charlotte. Preliminary reports say a Mobil crane near Bank of America Stadium tipped over. According to workers on the scene no one was injured. The cause of the accident is under investigation.
