College Park

A MPB notice went up today at the site of the former College Park Video (corner of Edgewater & Hazel, across from Gabriel's). The request is for a conditional use permit to allow an "eating and drinking establishment" with a drive through.

Googled to get the link but where did you see it posted. I cant find a link to the Cases Scheduled on the City's website. http://www.cityoforlando.net/planning/cityplanning/MPB/2013/06Jun/MPB2013JunRecapRev5.pdf

I saw the sign posted in person, but the city also has it listed as item #1 at the link you posted - 651 W Hazel St/Edgewater Plaza.

MPB Staff Report for Edgewater Plaza in College Park.  It looks like they've subdivided the building into multiple units.  According to the Conditions of Approval, "no more than half of the building may be used for eating and drinking uses due to its high minimum parking requirements."

Can't say that's a big loss. The CP Wildside (still want to call it Wildfires after all these years) never really found its audience in the neighborhood. Of all my friends and neighbors who live here I can't name one who frequented the place. It would be nice if some finer dining replaced it, but doesn't sound like that is the case.

In other CP restaurant news, the former Blackwater BBQ is making the transformation to Hubbly Bubbly, a falafel spot. Their website is pretty slick and I think this will be a nice addition to the hood. And it's not pizza!

New bike rack in College Park spells it out

What I really liked about this is the obvious pride in the neighborhood Jim Lakey has. Particularly with the Main Street neighborhoods in Orlando, but also with some of the suburbs like Oviedo and Winter Garden there's more and more of a taking ownership. In the long run, this will not only be good locally but for the state as well. These are folks putting down roots and will be contributing to our schools, churches, cultural institutions, etc., rather than talking about "how much better it was in Pittsburgh" and sending their contributions back there (not to pick on Pittsburgh, btw, it's an awesome city.)

Very cool, and I like that it's going in at Albert Park.  AP is really the heart of CP (in my opinion) so it's awesome to have such a statement piece right there.

Organica Furniture is going in next door to The Paper Gallery on Edgewater across the street from the Wellesley. Reclaimed wood furniture appears to be their specialty.

Also, a buildout of the old Beachcomber's Bazaar at the corner of Edgewater & Bryn Mawr seems almost complete. Any ideas on what's going in?

Found this online.  I think this will be a good addition to the neighborhood, and it's great news the concept is coming from established business owners.

This will be an excellent addition to the neighborhood - short bike ride/walk for an awful lot of families.  Anyone have an idea what might go in the old Ace Hardware space on Edgewater?  I really wish they hadn't moved out.

Stopped in yesterday and posted some photos and menu. Looks good to me!

Nothing yet on the Ace space. They had to move because they needed larger space. :(
