BRIDGESTONE ARENA RANKS FIFTH IN U.S., FIFTEENTH IN WORLD TICKET SALES IN POLLSTAR’S 2016 THIRD-QUARTER REPORT

Nashville, Tenn. (October 24, 2016) – Bridgestone Arena ranks fifth in the United States and 15th in the world for concert ticket sales, according to international trade publication Pollstar’s Third-Quarter Ticket Sales report. Pollstar announced Bridgestone Arena ticket sales as 368,796 inclusive of solely show and concert tickets, from 37 events, 48 performances and 15 sold-out shows. When including the SEC Men’s Basketball Tournament and Nashville Predators home hockey games, Bridgestone Arena has hosted nearly 1 million people in the building year to date.

Pollstar’s Top-5 U.S. Venues (Show & Concert Ticket Sales):

1.) Madison Square Garden (New York, N.Y.)

2.) Barclays Center (Brooklyn, N.Y.)

3.) The Forum (Inglewood, Calif.)

4.) Sprint Center (Kansas City, Mo.)

5.) Bridgestone Arena (Nashville, Tenn.)

“This ranking is a wonderful reflection of the support we get from all the fans who attend world-class events here at Bridgestone Arena,” Senior Vice President of Booking David Kells said.

“We are pleased with the strides we continue to make and thank everyone who supports the quality entertainment at Bridgestone Arena and those who work hard to create an amazing environment for fans. We also thank the artists, managers, agents, promoters and everyone in the entertainment community who has brought their tour to our venue.”

Bridgestone Arena underwent close to $10 million in renovations this summer, which included the completion of entirely new arena seating, environmentally-conscious restroom enhancements and over a dozen new food and beverage stands.

Serving as the home for numerous national and international events, Bridgestone Arena has the distinction of being one of the busiest venues in the United States over the past decade and a half. In addition to being named nominated for Pollstar’s 2015 Arena of the Year, Bridgestone Arena received the Prime Site Award for 2016. Kells also recently received recognition as the 2016 IEBA (International Entertainment Buyers Association) Venue Executive of the Year in October.

Surprised to see the Sprint Center and especially the Forum so high in the rankings considering they have no professional "home" team.

The numbers are for performances and concerts only, not sporting events, so in this ranking hosting a team or teams is a handicap since it limits the time available for shows.

Well, in that case, it's pretty amazing that we're that high on the list.

Nashville is third in the country for economic growth. This is according to the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics which measured the Gross Regional Product (GRP) for the country's 53 metropolitan areas of more than 1 million people. The GRP analysis reflects the value of all goods and services created within a given metropolitan region.

The top 10 fastest growing metro areas:

metro area...growth 2010-2015

  1. San Jose...43.6%
  2. Austin...37.1%
  3. Nashville...34.1%
  4. San Antonio...33.2%
  5. Charlotte...33.1%
  6. Grand Rapids MI...30.9%
  7. San Francisco...29.3%
  8. Raleigh...29.2%
  9. Columbus OH...28.9%
  10. Dallas...28.7%

Tennessee's only other metro area large enough for this study, Memphis, ranked 47th with a growth of 14.7%.

Nashville's still booming....and it's great to see our brother city Memphis even growing....things good in Tennessee. The two cities we're usually compared to, Austin and Charlotte, are also both on the list. We beat Charlotte, but Austin bested us.

That's pretty cool, though I'm not really sure how anything in their explanation of why people should visit Nashville relates to "design."

Man...I wish we could outlaw photos of our skyline from that vantage point.  It does us no justice.

It really doesn't.  It makes it look like Des Moines or something.  I would understand if people saw that picture and thought, "wait a second...that's the city everyone is raving about?"
