Greater Nashville retained its place among the 10 best-performing markets nationwide, according to a newly issued report from the nonpartisan economic think tank Milken Institute.

Middle Tennessee fell one spot to No. 8 overall in the rankings, which evaluate job growth, wage growth and also economic growth stemming from high-tech industries. It's the second year in a row Nashville made the top 10 — a far cry from the No. 27 ranking the city held just five years ago.

Yep. We're in there along with the likes of Denver, Dallas, Seattle, Austin, Raleigh, etc.  A strange reference to the River North development; suggesting that tenants were already lining up. Did I miss something?

As hotel construction declines or stays flat across the nation, Nashville is among three cities where building has increased.

In Nashville, 5,028 rooms were under construction at 33 hotels, a 48 percent increase from the same period last year. It was the only market to increase construction in December, according to data from Hendersonville-based hotel analytics firm STR.

New York saw more than 12,000 rooms being built at 69 hotels, and in Dallas, 5,700 rooms were added to 45 hotels, but both markets dropped more than 18 percent from the previous year.

On that note I was reading Lonely Planet’s Best in travel 2018 and Nashville was featured in the “Best Value Destinations” Section and the “Best culture trips for families” section. So Nashville is being accoladed seeming everywhere, and after nearly 6 years of accolades they are still coming!

Would you mind providing a link?  I've been scouring Lonely Planet's web site and don't see where Nashville is mentioned.  Here's where I'm looking:  https://www.lonelyplanet.com/best-in-travel

The Nashville area set another record for annual visitors in 2017, bringing in 14.5 million people and reaching a new high mark for hotel rooms sold.

The 14.5 million visitors represented a 4.6 percent increase over 2016. By comparison there were 8.5 million visitors in 2008.

Tourism growth came in higher than expected, according to the Nashville Convention and Visitors Corp., which released the stats on Thursday. The CVC attributed the surprisingly high numbers to the solar eclipse in August and country star Garth Brooks' run of seven concerts at Bridgestone Arena.

Well, we came in at #23 in the country for micro-brews. I consider this a win (because I like beer)... with still plenty of room to move up. We've got 22 micro-brews - but it's the number per 100,000 residents along with some other metrics that creates the ranking. Asheville NC came in at #1.

It's just clickbait. This same website listed Batman Bldg as the best building in the state a few months before.

Half of those buildings are really cool, and the other half that are ugly look like a thousand other buildings.  Pointless article.  That basket building in Ohio is fantastic.  What do you want, a box?

Agreed.  I actually really like the building in Louisville too.  But then again, I also like that yellow hexagon highrise in Music Row.  It's all subjective obviously... but I don't understand what's wrong with a little bit of unorthodox design.  I'd much rather have an unorthodox design than a bland design or a design that is bad from an urban design perspective.
