This went under the radar in spite of the HUGE amazon announcement for Nashville but the 2019 Fodor’s List of places to go to features Nashville and has a nice piece written about it. I will say i am hoping to see more travel articles written about new nashville developments like Fifth and Broadway (with the NAAMM), the new Tennessee State Museum, and Nashville Yards etc... Nashville’s economy isn’t the only thing growing, tourism seems to be as well.

ARGH!  They're still using that same old shot of the skyline taken from across the river.

Actually a slightly different, and arguably better shot.  This one is taken from KVB, not Shelby (it'll always be Shelby to me).  You can see more of the skyline, as well as the other bridge.

Mookie Betts was named the 2018 MVP of the American League on Thursday. The award capped what already was a memorable year for the Overton High School graduate who helped the Boston Red Sox win the World Series for the first time in five years. He is a proud Nashvillian.  Also, David Price of the Red Sox is from the Nashville area.

Not a huge baseball fan, especially the Red Sox, but as an Overton alum and current Murfreesboro resident, I was rooting for Mookie and David. Doesn't hurt that they seem to be really good guys too. David built an awesome park for special needs kids in Murfreesboro.

Do you recall when the Preds were in the Stanley Cup Final and the CMA Fest was occurring the same week in June of 2017?  Remember how some of us were saying this is they type of exposure that will draw more corporations to take a look at Nashville? That is exactly what happened with Ernst & Young.  Turns out they were having their annual convention that same week at Opryland Hotel with 3,000 EY executives in attendance, and they were completely smitten with the energy of the city that week.

They researched 18 markets altogether in a year's span.  EY compared cities on a wide range of metrics, from their available workforce to their pool of students within a 50-mile radius with backgrounds in either IT or business. Other metrics included: analyzing cities' airports, as well as flight options and prices; tracking crime rates; comparing average salaries; and measuring business climates.

The incentives the city and state offered were also a factor, but not the deciding factor.  Apparently that eye-ball test back in June of '17 was quite important.

One key point... being in an eastern time zone for their customer support (early mornings).

Asurion was mentioned as a pioneer of sorts when they moved their whole HQ from California fifteen years ago.

Executives of some of the companies named in the article even said they had lived in Atlanta previously and did not like it. You really can understand that if you come from a Northeastern or Bay Area city. They were intent on NOT going there. One of the things not mentioned but I believe has made a big difference in recent years is the improved service out of BNA... and the BA link to Heathrow absolutely does not hurt.

I post this claim with no evidence to defend it, but another reason so many companies are moving here is national affinity for Tennessee. People really like it here. I have met so many transplants from states like CA, IL, MA, and NY who made the move simply because they enjoy our way of life. It's not always about low cost of living and ease of doing business. Tennessee offers a unique brand of Southern culture that isn't too strong for people from other parts of the country. Nashville is cosmopolitan yet retains its laid-back southern charm. I guarantee this is a major reason why so many companies are keen on relocating its workers to this state.
