Luckily for us, Nashville's "secret" is that it's Nashville.  You can't fake that!

The latest Nashville article in a national pub. Rolling Stone's feature on East Nasty, and the threat posed by its popularity (developers) to its hipness.

Not surprisingly, like almost all articles by RS it reads more like a roster of musicians associated with the place than an actual description of what's happening in EN vis-a-vis development and its impact on these musicians.

Hat-tip to NBJ: http://www.rollingstone.com/music/news/why-east-nashville-was-more-hot-than-hip-in-2015-20151222?page=6

NASHVILLE...

The sixth best city to visit in the entire world!!!

From Rough Guide....

"This year, take a trip to the Great Smoky Mountains National Park to go firefly watching, before kicking back with fried chicken and a night at a classic honky-tonk."

Wow, they know the city so well!  <_<

ABC-TV says that "Nashville" series is continuing at least one more year. According to the Nashville Post:

"At times in recent years, the future of ABC's television show Nashville has been in doubt as the new year rolled around. Not so in 2016, it appears: Speaking to a Television Critics Association group over the weekend, ABC Entertainment Group President Paul Lee said his team has no plans for the show, which put up a 1.8 rating for its fall finale, "other than to keep it going."

“We don’t have any plans to finish Nashville,” he said. “We have an incredibly passionate audience. The Nashville audience grows by a large amount in our delay viewings.”

More details from NBJ here:

Even though I think the show is quite cheesy, it DOES put the city's vibe and landscape in a pretty good light, and does draw tourists here.

Once you get past the soap-opera-ish style of the show...there are two good things about it, IMO.  One...it showcases the city nicely with some great shots and just the overall vibe of something going on here.  And secondly...they actually do some really good music at times that is better than what's being played on Country radio these days.  Much more vibey, acoustic and with better lyrics than a lot of the hip hop stuff that passes for country music.

Personally, I would swap out Ascend for Exit/In.  It represents the exact opposite of what the Ryman stands for and is a time capsule that highlights the 1980s rockblock that was Elliston.

Nashville was filming at the downtown Provence this morning.

Don't know where this belongs, but the ABC television show "Nashville" will be renewed for another season, I think that will be the fifth season.  They have not committed to filming in town yet, pending the Metro and State subsidies along with Gaylord's, but like it or not, it has done a tremendous amount for our cities reputation and tourist industry.  There are some very talented people on the show and so many have been generous with their time for local charitable causes, especially Chip Esten, Clare Bowen, Chris Carmack and Sam Palladio
