Nashville from 2016-2017 was the fastest growing metropolitan area in terms of the economy in the entire country. Yes even faster than Austin. Top 5 were: Nashville, Riverside California, Jacksonville, Orlando, and Austin. Top 5 least growing were: New Orleans, Buffalo, Rochester New York, Cleveland, and Memphis.

just thought this was a cool statistic

Top 5 least growing were: New Orleans, Rochester, Buffalo, Cleveland, and Hartford.  Memphis was 7th, not 5th.  Just splitting hairs here.

I see and get all those top 5 growing metros except Jacksonville. What's the draw? Why is it growing so fast?

It's a one year over year only list.  Jacksonville must have had one good year.  Longer term lists are the only ones that should matter when determining trends.  I view data generating sites as this one only  slightly better than a click bait generators.  But as I was working on my post I just noticed the company is based in Austin, so that means local jobs.  Enjoy their reports!

Tennessee is ranked No. 4 in growth of number of women-owned firms since 2007 with a 68 percent increase. Nashville was ranked #11 city in country for new women-owned businesses during that span.

Nashville is the 2019 recipient of the Jimmy & Rosalynn Carter Work Project, led by the former president and first lady, the organization announced this week.

Five hundred volunteers will descend on the Park Preserve neighborhood of north Nashville from Oct. 6-11, 2019 to construct 20 homes for low-income families in partnership with Habitat for Humanity of Greater Nashville.

Country music superstars Garth Brooks and Trisha Yearwood will join the Carters and other volunteers in the work.

"This will be the 36th Carter Work Project and it's the first time it's come to Nashville," said Habitat for Humanity of Greater Nashville President and CEO Danny Herron. "He's 94 and she's 91 and they're still working. It's just amazing."

Thanks for sharing.  I have a friend who has worked on these around the world.  I'll ask him if he's coming to Nashville next October!

4th largest in the Nation. Up there with some big time company.

It is nothing short of stellar and amazing that Nashville is ranked alongside New York, Los Angeles, Houston, and Dallas as recognized competition; (though not in that order, of course.)

Spending several years in smyrna, I can see this as being conservative... the growth in mboro and Rutherford county as a whole is remarkable.

In 1995, there was a special census for Smyrna and LaVergne because of the spectacular population growth.  At the time, I-24 was two lanes on each side and there were no buildings at the Sam Ridley Parkway exit (Exit 66).  Today, that exit boasts several  hotels, a major shopping center and a hospital.
