Nashville really needs to adjust the boundaries of the TDZ. All the tax revenue from this draft go to the convention center, not metro general fund.

Agreed. I think they should create some sort of annual cap. Once they reach that, the excess revenue goes to the general fund. I don't want to put the convention center in a bad financial situation, but it's still at this point to think the convention center drives even a majority of downtown tax revenue.

I was just interviewed for an upcoming French documentary on the rise of Nashville called “Nashville: Where To Dream Big”. It will air later this year on one of the premiere French TV stations to an estimated audience of a few million people. Contrary to most Nashville documentaries, this one largely ignores the country music history of the city and instead is focused almost exclusively on Nashville’s rise to the world’s stage and the plethora of economic opportunity here. It follows several artists and entrepreneurs from all over the world who have found success in Nashville. It sounds like it’ll really bolster our reputation in France. I’m excited to see it once it’s released!

That is wonderful!  I'm headed back to France this week for a couple of weeks of business, and I can guarantee that the French absolutely know about Nashville (I'm half French, by the way).  I really look forward to seeing this documentary.  Please keep us posted as you know more about it.

For the 13th time in 19 months, Greater Nashville posted the lowest unemployment rate of the nation's largest 51 metros at 2.1%.

Tennessee also set a new state record low of 3.2% unemployment in April.  It is the 12th lowest rate in the nation.

I echo @jmtunafish's request that you keep us updated about this documentary and where we might see it, if you know.  Can't wait to see this!

Bonnaroo Festival has its first sellout in 7 years with 80,000 in attendance this past weekend.

Was the lineup better this year? Any thoughts on what drove the sellout? I know weather was phenomenal but I wouldn't think they would be a factor

They did a huge, cheaper pre-sale for the first time last November, and sold a ton of tickets that way before they even announced the lineup.

Growth alone does not make a global city.  10-15 years down the line, or any time frame for that matter.

It is not even close to becoming a global city. If growth continues 10-15 years down the line then maybe, but it is not currently.

The people at Britain's Globalization and World Cities Research Network (GaWC) disagree with you, placing Nashville among the world's Gamma- cities, along with other North American cities Ottawa, Sacramento, San Antonio, Milwaukee, and Orlando.
