Who'd have thunk it!? Apparently, our town is leading the country in luxury housing. I'm speechless....

Also, they use aggravatingly dated pics on a piece about newly constructed luxury housing. Very sad and lazy, but still a good read.

A snippet from the Mansion Global article:

"“In the late ’90s, early 2000s, the city had a nice downtown, but people only went there to drink and listen to music. Nobody lived downtown,” said George Ratiu, manager of economic research for Realtor.com. “You go to Nashville downtown today, it is sparkling with gleaming, glass skyscrapers, condos, apartments, office buildings. It has an entire host of establishments from stadiums to concert halls. It has grown to resemble much bigger cities over the last decade or two.”"

This is probably a dumb question, but why wouldn't the figure be 100% of "visitors"  being from out of town?  How can a resident of Nashville also be a visitor to Nashville?

Wow, the big take away from that study (in my opinion) is just how poorly Memphis ranks in so many categories, and the stark contrast versus Nashville's favorable rating.   No wonder the economic fates of the two cities are so wildly divergent!

It's just how much one negative news article can really hurt a city and that is so unfortunate. This past couple of weeks Memphis had to endure two tragic stories in the media and people will remember those around the nation, but what they will not remember is how the neighbors came around the family of the one victim.

In retrospect, the Nashville bombing aftermath, there were hero's, rebuilding, overcoming the negative, and that is sort of what the media focused on. They turned it into a positive. That is how the mayor's office in Memphis has to attempt to handle these situations. I heard very little in the news from the mayor's office on the news, just a police major and that is what made the headlines. A lot of it is how the leadership of a city handles things, even as poor as I think our leadership may or may not be.

I did hear on one news account citizens blaming the city leadership for the crime. I am unfamiliar with how the leadership there is, but it seems as if they were moving in a positive direction.
