For those who do not like the name of the new federal courthouse (for political reasons or whatever) this picture taken from the Jim Reed site may suggest a simpler, yet fitting, title.  White Castle.

Great line from downtownresident.   Since Jim Cooper was a Blue Dog for a while they have put a blue tarp over the plywood dome ahead of today's rain.  Nobody seems to be in a hurry on this one.

There was one federal judge who selected the design about 15 years ago. His name .. Robert Echols. My beef isn’t with him per se… it’s with the selection process which effectively gave complete control over the design to one person. I’ve met judge Echols… he was a very competent judge. He is not an architect or master planner.

But please remember government buildings - especially a court house - has building standards that are about 5x more strict than a BroadWest office tower. It's actually impressive they are progressing this quickly! This doesn't compare to other construction on any level

Rest assured, if I was Judge Echols, we'd be getting a 60 story courthouse with a crown.

How much you want to bet due to Nashville's growth rate that they will be crying for a new Federal CH in 10 years saying this one is not big enough and they should have built it twice the size.

I won't bet against it.  Given that this one took 25 years (and still NOT open!), if they want a new one by 2075, then they'll need to start now.

A local news agency (Mainstreet Nashville) has reported that the General Services Administration expects the courthouse to be finished in the "Summer of 2021".  That will be a stretch in my judgment but maybe they can do it.  Today the portico roof had some red on it for bipartisanship, I suppose.

I'm just now noticing the windows on the gazebo/wedding venue.  This could make it a secure location for prisoners and a way to isolate the wives from the rest of the prison population.
