UTgrad09 4435 Report post Posted August 11, 2013 It's been hard for me to find what has been going on in Knoxville (aside from some UT projects). Thankfully someone from another site tuned me in to a few of the newer proposals and developments. While Knoxville isn't experiencing the type of building boom Nashville is having, there does seem to be a decent bit going on...as well as some promising signs of life in the urban development realm. 'Marble Alley' a 238 unit apartment project near Central, State, and Commerce downtown just a few blocks from the Old City. http://blogs.knoxnews.com/flory/2013/07/marble-alley-incentives-moving.html Five different proposals for the former Supreme Court site at Henley and Cumberland (across Henley from the convention center). The city evaluation committee favors this $84 million proposal, which includes a hotel with 75 suites and 95 rooms, 201 condos, a restaurant, and retail. Second place is a $30 million project developed by BNA Associates with 228 apartments and 15,000 sq ft of retail. http://www.knoxnews.com/news/2013/aug/07/hotel-condos-bridge-eyed-henley-site/ $18 million 59 unit student housing complex + retail on Cumberland @ Mountcastle (BP site). http://www.wbir.com/news/article/276931/2/New-retailhousing-development-may-be-coming-to-the-Strip Six story apartment development near UT at 17th and White. http://www.wbir.com/news/article/283589/2/New-development-proposed-near-Cumberland-Ave Hillside site in Fort Sanders to get 2 building apartment development. http://blogs.knoxnews.com/flory/2013/07/apartment-project-planned-in-t.html Potential 177 unit/508 bed student housing near 23rd and Forest. http://cilistings.listinglab.com//prop15497/index.cfm? Potential $125-150 million redevelopment of old Baptist Hospital site (the south bluff of the river). 350 apartments, 250 student apartments, 150 room hotel, and retail. http://www.knoxnews.com/news/2013/jun/04/redevelopment-plan-announced-for-ex-hospital-in/ Medical Arts building to be converted to 49 apartments. http://www.knoxnews.com/news/2013/jun/08/new-life-for-medical-arts-building/ Hopefully I can post stuff with more regularity. Any potential Knoxville lurkers are more than welcome to post updates.

bigeasy 1774 Report post Posted August 11, 2013 Thanks! I love seeing updates about Knoxville! I usually only pay attention to the stuff with UT since I went there, so it is nice to hear about projects outside of the campus.
