That model looks all out of whack. The Hyatt looks as tall as the Encore and the Omni looks as short. And it looks like it was made from cereal boxes and milk cartons.

 

I hope it is better in person.

Looks 450ish in height. Similar to Snodgrass/Tennessee Tower/National Life.

I know a lot of us wanted taller, but I'm guessing a certain size floor plate was part of the deal.

I wish it still had the curved ends of Sheet Music, but I'm sure companies prefer squared walls.

just to point out, in the rendering teh view is from the park on top of the Hilton garage, so that building behind is Encore.

Meh... it's big... albeit not much taller than Pinnacle. More disappointed in the boxiness!   Then again, there's the JW Marriott to look forward to.

Perkins & Will is the architect. Thank goodness we are getting the big boys designing in Nashville now. Not to take away from our locals, but this is a huge step.

The new 30-story tower, which will include street-level, would be around the same height as the Pinnacle Building, located just a block away.

 

Also, the article states that HCA will have 2,000 people in their 17 story tower under construction in the North Gulch and Bridgestone will have 1,700 in a 30 story tower. I guess the HCA tower has a larger footprint, or are they going to be crammed like sardines in that building??

Now that the design is out, I'm waiting for detractors. It's roughly 500ft, stunning design from an impressive firm, Perkins + Will, and it's the consolidation of a major int'l corporation's North American operations into one seamless corporate HQ. I'm all for this and can't wait to watch it rise.

Who says it's "roughly 500 ft"?  I believe everything that has been said/written so far would suggest a little more than 400'.  Wasn't that comparison to the 415' Pinnacle?  Or do I have the correct height to that one?  Was Mr. Giarratana present at the groundbreaking?

There are a couple more renderings on channel 2's website. They show a nice perspective of how the tower will look from the east bank and looking down Demonbreun next to the MCC.

We are keeping a world renowned company within Nashville, taking away a useless surface parking lot, adding more jobs, and a beautiful building. Sure, it may not be as tall as we would like....but, i'll be damn if I'm about to sit here and be ungrateful.

That really bad model they presented had it taller than the Pinnacle, appearing roughly 50-75ft taller, so I went for the higher end of the spectrum to be optimistic.
