We are quickly approaching the total fundraising goal, and will soon be preparing the Wilkins House for the move to its new site.  There will be two send-off parties held at the Wilkins house this week as a celebration, and to help raise the final amount needed.  The first is on Friday, May 9 from 6-9pm for donors of $250 or more, and another on Saturday, May 10, 2-5:30pm for all other donors.

Almost all of the additions have been removed from the house.  Remnants of the original side porch and steps were uncovered.  The moving crew is on site today and beginning to prep the house to move.

The house is being moved to the rear of the existing site today.  They have already put the wheels on and rotated the house facing away from Augusta St this morning.  Tomorrow morning it will move out off the side of the lot onto Otis Street, through the office parking lot, and onto Mills Ave.

The Wilkins House made the big move on Saturday.  It now sits at the rear of the new lot, waiting to be moved forward on its new foundation

Nothing has happened at the former location of the Wilkins House.  It was suppose to be an Assisted Living facility, butnothing seems to be happening.  Has anyone heard anything?

Hopefully, they have reconsidered and want to do something better with the site.

Last I heard earlier this year, the developer was going back and redesigning the project.  Seems strange since a year ago he was all anxious to get started and had to have the house out of his way, or he would bulldoze it.  I'm imagining the whole project falling through, meaning they moved the house for nothing.

That would be pretty terrible if the developer wanted to destroy the house without even having his finances and plan in order.  If that is the case, they should be sued to pay for moving the house back and then taken back into a room and beaten with a rubber hose.  Again, if that is true, it should be a warning for city officials to hold developers accountable or be darn sure before letting them pull this kind of stuff.
